I just had all 4 calipers and my spoiler replaced at the mitsu in kings automall. It was a big hassle at first, but they ended up doing it, and I didn't have to pay a dime.
What Happened:
I am glad to hear no negative comments regarding the Kings 'ship. I need to have two BBS rims replaced, my rear axle (a couple of ABS teeth sheared off), front and rear wheel bearings, rear knuckle and possibly a new rear caliper.
Yes, I pulled a huge noob move and smacked the driverside into a curb. One time out of the garage in the winter and I smack it pretty good. I slid my front end right into the curb first. Following the front end was the rear end swinging into the curb. That will teach me to run with the ACD in Tarmac and with the stock advans in not so nice (snowy) weather. It only takes one time. Turned out to be a rather expensive trip to the bank
All in all I should have known much, much, MUCH better. Too late.
Damage:
Anyhow, I am very cautious about who to let work on this car as the 'ship looked at the car once and gave me a worst case scenario with the following spec for replacement: 2 rims, front wheel bearing, rear hub (wheelbearing?), rear knuckle, and possibly the rear caliper for some reason the service rep couldn't explain.
Suspicion:
The catch is that I inspected the car prior to taking it in and saw missing teeth on the rear ABS rotor that holds the teeth for the sensor to pick up. From my understanding its press fitted on the EJB part of the rear axle. I had to prompt them to look at the car again, specifically the rear axle/ABS ring, but they have another EVO on the rack supposedly getting a clutch replacement so they haven't had a chance to look at it. Don't they have multiple lifts?
Also, couldn't they tell if the caliper is damaged in any way by visual inspection? I didn't see anything wrong with the brake calipers. I guess damage to the knuckle could cause damage to the caliper but I dont know.....
Cost:
The damage was originally estimated to be about $4500 until they priced in a new rear axle. This estimate also includes cost for the rear caliper incase that needs to be replaced but they claimed they wouldn't know until digging in deeper. Keep in mind about $2000 (almost half cost) is the rims through the stealership. I am not sure how much the other parts would cost through them along with the associated labor.
What to do!?
I am in a dilema since this is my responsibility. Insurance or not? If I don't claim on insurance, I am confident I could do all the work but then if there are any bugs, it is up to me to work out. I don't really have alot of time with work but I don't want my insurance to sky rocket either. I know if I have the dealership take care of it, I will have to claim on insurance since they love charging up the butt without lube.
The service rep told me that at 810.00 I was getting a discount on the rims and the labor at $75/hr, and a couple other things. I smelled bulls*!@ as there aren't ANY discounts at a dealer. I thought MSRP was in the 800's for the BBS rims. I don't want to be jerked around with inaccurate info!
1) Any suggestions if you would trust them to do the work? I know I could do the work much much cheaper especially if I can find some car part-outs. With the rims, I could get new rims altogether or 2 used replacements. According to the service manual, nothing looks that difficult.
2) If you were me would you take the insurance route on this? I have a perfect driving record so this would be my first claim. Being a first time, I am not sure how it will affect my rates.

I am guessing since the spoiler was also replaced that you had paint issues?
1) Claim it on insurance, that's what it's for.
2) Dealership in question having their bodyshop look at it? Regular mechanics don't usually do accident inspections and are could be missing/adding things un-necessarily.
3) Personally, I don't trust ANY of the dealerships to do actual mechanical work on my car.
4) Your rates will likely go up, but it will take a long time paying the extra premium to add up to $4500.
5) I would be inclined to take the car to a bodyshop, so they can get it on a rack and make sure everything is right. You took your car to Performance for the rear end damage, right? If you were happy with them take it back. If not, I have another place that you can check out.

Greg - Thanks for the suggestions. I did some number crunching and whatnot and insurance is the way to go.
On a side note, Peformance Body did a great job and I was really pleased.

Damn....I didn't realize there were so many Evo owners in Northern KY. You guys and the Cinncy guys need to come to Louisville for a meet. I'm tired of all the dame Suby's out numbering us and seeing all the nice big Evo meets on the West coast.

I would love to come down to Louisville for a meet, just let me/us know when. Since moving down here I have been trying to find a good meeting place and would be glad to help the evo/sub ratio.

Regarding 3), I don't necessarily trust any dealership myself, but I want someone with a good amount of experience with the Evo's to be working on it and I am just not sure who to let work on it. Performance Body repair does do a great job....
I editing this to say that I found the warranty manual online
