Da Bears

Being out in wyoming for work, i havent been able to watch any of the bears games all season. I only get to see the highlights on sportscenter.

So my question is: Are they actually playing like a first place team? Most of the teams they played since the winning streak have well not so good records, Now that they beat Carolina, which i figured they would lose, it got me wondering if they are actually playing good football?

Thx

If this thread shoulda been in offtopic instead of here, Im sorry

Well, I am by no means a football expert but I've seen the last few games and have been pretty impressed (especially because I have Bears defense on my fantasy team ).

The offense is adequate and with the bears D shutting down pretty much everyone, it gives the offense the slight boost in confidence it needs. In my opinion, Orton has done a terrific job given his skills and the players around him.

Plus the NFC is packed in pretty tight at the top and the Bears are actually tied for 2nd in the conference (forgive me, I don't know the tie breakers to determine home field advantage). I don't think there is an NFC team that is capable of dominating the Bears the way they are playing now. Depending how the standings end up, I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see them in the NFC championship game. I just don't know if they have the experience to go any farther than that

Any one elses thoughts?

All i can say is that I have been a bears fan since my dad put a big bears hat on my head when I couldn't even walk and I've been having a great time watching them play, especially the last month. As for opinions about 1st place, I just don't want to see any injuries and I think we have a good shot. The offense definitely needs to step up a little though, but they have been coming along, so I dunno.

I thought they looked really good against Carolina, although Delhomme played pretty crappy for most of the game, if not all of it. The defense did kick *** though, getting six or so sacks! Bear down, Chicago Bears......... time to start singing again

The bears d is what's winning the games. Kyle Orton needs to get it together with his receivers, although Mohamed did drop 3 passes. Don't get me wrong, I'm a die hard Bears fan. All three of our running back are also kicking butt. Special teams also stepped it up especially with that return from Vasher on the missed field goal.OMG. So what's left, Kyle Orton. He has great potential though. Da Bearssss.

We should be happy they have an easy schedule.

I have season bears tickets and was at the SF game on the 13'th and it was pretty cool. No matter how hard they tried to lose they just couldn't screw it up.

Cool? What about that ridiculous wind? 49er fan watching that game a couple weeks ago. Bears defense is top notch. I saw Benson get hurt, but the 3rd RB came in and did a nice job. Trademark Bears, great defense and running game. In order to go deep in the playoffs, Orton has to be able to carry a team with his arm. I don't know if can, yet.

Dhelomme played crappy that game because the Bears DEFENSE WAS TOO MUCH.......and that was a good DEFENSE does Dhelomme was on locked down put it this way...>Carolina scored 102 points combined passed 3 games they came to CHI TOWN and scored 3 tell me that doesnt say something about the Bears. Now the Bears played home which is obviously an adavantage this week they will go on the road against another number 1 seed (tied) and great team Tampa Bay the Bears have been playing GREAT football but I think this will be the week where they show how good they really are. GO BEARS!!!

Kyle Orton is good. Take away his Cincy game and he has a 80+ QB rating w/ 8 td and 6 ints. Delhomme had a bad game cause Rivera saw that Delhomme under threw people when he was pressured. he would throw off his back foot, so the bears brought the house early and he got scared. if you think he was playing bad check out Steve Smith's 48 yard grab. great double coverage, just a great leaping catch and throw. the bears said they wanted to focus on stopping everyone but steve smith and since smith caught a record 14 passes out of 22 comp, I think they did. and the bears sacked him 8 times when he was sacked 12 times all season. moose dropped a td and 2 1st downs. orton got picked in the endzone, it easily could have been 27-3. the bears play to other teams level's though and is why they are underated. heck they could ahve won the cincy game if turner didn't keep throwing it deep and just played football. their defense can stop almost anyone, they aren't winning a superbowl with the youngest team in the league though. they have a tough schedule now with @TB (7-3), @PIT (7-3), @ MN (5-5), ATL (6-4), & @ lambo which is always tough. they are playing like a 1st place team though, not too many penalties anymore, stingy d, winning the turnover battle, good running game, great special teams all around. they do all the little things and one of the big, Defense. credit it all to Lovie, no matter his talent level, his defensive and team philosiphy makes good players great (i.e. vasher, briggs, a. brown) and average players good (chris harris, alfonso boone, every receiver besides moose)

If Tillman was covering S.Smith than that's expected. Tillman, most of the time, gets burnt crispy.

I agree. The defensive (da best since the '85 Bears) and offensive lines have been controlling the games. Orton is going to have to help score more points if they are to beat any of the top teams in the AFC.

if their offense don't step up to the same level as their defense, they ain't gonna get too far....btw, their division suks, so I'm guessing it's a toss up with the Vikings/Bears for 1st place...

Another good win today! Defense stepping up when we needed it, like usual. That missed field goal helped a lot too Gotta love it when the game ends on a sack like that.

That was awesome. Now I want to see some Bears stomp on the Packers.
