ah nice i have 3 years and 3 months left myself...plan on moving back home to Spokane WA, PM me if you ever get bored and wanna drive around or something, i know you met kevin(silver evo on base) i usually hang out w/ him on the weekends but PM if you want to do something...and welcome to the worst state in the union, lates
I've lived alot of other places since leaving Omaha 10+ years ago...it's not that bad in hindsight.
Seriously, there are some of the best restaurants in that area...since you guys are in the Bellevue area, you should check out Netties Fine Mexican Food on Railroad Ave, on the north edge of Bellevue. Some of the best you'll find anywhere.
Check out an open track event at Mid-America Motorplex out around Glenwood, IA and get your Evo on the track...that's some excitement. Go drive the twisties in the Ponca Hills (check out the Surfside Club for catfish/chicken dinner while you're up there...) area or along the base of the Loess Hills in IA; there is a killer two lane that goes from Council Bluffs up towards MO Valley...winds through alot of little towns.
There's good stuff...just look for it.
Anywhere is what you make of it.

Yeah Omaha is not that bad. I'm happy to call it my home. There's some good roadcourses nearby and a solid SCCA group that holds a lot of AutoXs and RallyXs (nrscca.com).

Yeah, it's a wait...but sooooo worth it. I do it every time I get back up there.
When I started dating my wife in St. Louis, she kept taking me to all these Mexican places saying they were really good. I kept saying they were "OK". Then she finally went back Omaha with me and I took her to Netties...I still remember her with a mouthful saying, "yeah, all those places sucked...they weren't OK"
Seriously guys...get out and find what Omaha has to offer. Keep in mind, where you're from is great because you grew up there...you had time to discover stuff. Get off the base and discover the area.
