Ahh...youth + alcohol + fast car = bad results.

How many stories of speeding, reckless 40-year-olds have we seen on this site? Not many.

How many stories of speeding, reckless 20-somethings have we seen on this site? Plenty.

First off I'd like top say that i Know the driver and the victims that, were killed in the accident personally, and i personally know that there is NO dui charges because he was not under the influence of anything. Only reason that is written is because the passengers were intoxicated and they did not perform any toxicoligy report until he was in the hospital, and then cleared of all charges. All of you who sit and pass judgment about something that you Know nothing about should really stop because its a tragedy as it is, and your comments and opinions are definatley not needed. The driver lost his beloved girlfriend of years and his best friend dealing with that is hard enough without being judged by all of you who speed in your cars EVERYDAY and this could happen to any of you ANY DAY . Regardless alcohol was not involved and hes dealing with enough hearing false accusations in the media let alone dealing with a thread like this. PLEASE Stop and have some respect for the [people that died in the tragic accident and for the innocent driver who did not cause any of this purposely.

Well, I stand by my above comments in general, however...

You had better get the paper to print a retraction if they are indeed incorrect.

A friend of the family is legally blind, and he walked off the edge of his roof one day. He didn't really get hurt because he wasn't tensed up like most people. (not as hurt as many get)

What was your blind friend doing on a roof???

In all seriousness, the problem here isn't so much the ALLEGED alcohol. The article said he MAY have been slighlty above the legal limit, but the results will tell for sure. If Evolelm said he wasn't drunk, then I believe him. With a .08 legal limit, it is easy to reach and surpass that. It really isn't that high.

The thing that should be addressed is the reckless driving, especially with unrestrained passengers in your car. We all blame the alcohol so that a part of us doesn't feel like it can happen to us, but we have all pushed the right pedal down on open roads. This could have easily been any of us because that is most likely what caused the collision. If anything good can come of this tragedy, let it be the lesson of assuring everyone is buckled up and that you drive with care. There is a time and place for fast driving, and public roadways are never appropriate, regardless of the time of day or traffic conditions.

I'm a Firefighter/Paramedic and can assure you that seatbelts would have likely saved these two. Though the car is mangled, the passenger compartment remained mostly intact with minimal intrusion. I would not be surprised if both of the unrestrained passengers were ejected from the car. Just be careful out there. Luckily no other vehicles were involved.

Well said. I'm a Police Officer and I see these things happen all too often. Buckle up, don't drink and drive (or ride with someone who has been drinking) and save your urges for the track. With a car like this comes greater responsibility. The EVO is a fast car for public roads no doubt about that. Be careful out there.

sad,

By reading the article I knew the driver was probably not under the influence of alcohol just the passangers. (maybe he went to pick them up from a bar/night club) maybe he had only 1 beer thats enough to cause troubles and be resposible for everything what happaned. I wont point fingers at this guy and say, its his fault! because we dont know.

Off Topic, short story.

Last weekend I went over friends house, party. I had only 1 beer and thats it long time sober, because i knew I will be driving my car back and it is a police magnet with wing and pretty lound exhaust, two of my friends got drunk so Ive decided to drive them home, meanwhile in my car they were laughing at me HOW Slow im driving, I was going speed limit and i know the area is filled with police - I was driving back and thinking IF i was speeding and something could happen I will be responsible for those two drunks no matter what.

Few months back my friend got charged with DUI. HE just went to grab smokes from local store. 1 mile away!!! well you know the story.

Now IF I get too much to drink? I call the cab - I rather pay 80+ bux than be in deep **** and fines or what I did couple of times, I locked my keys in the trunk and slept in the car. Weird? maybe.

Always wear your seatbelts, and Leave it for the track.
