the Pirelli Neros are supposed to be pretty good in the snow - I really liked my Pirelli P7000 Supersports back in the day on my Mustang, and the Neros are supposed to be a world better. That, and they sell for about $120 @ tirerack and are available in 235/45 to fit the stock Evo wheel.

AWD will only get you so far. And a lot of performance tires (the EVO stock Advans included) are made for summer use ONLY. In fact, there's a warning sticker on the car itself.

Have you ever seen a race car lose control in the rain when they had the wrong tires on?

Why do you think race teams bring different tire compounds to each event?

Rally cars are AWD, and they have different tires for every surface imagenable.

The stock tires are summer tires!

I went early and put on the new tires. I love them so far, but they still need to be broke in a little. Overall a very good buy.

AWD does help, but the correct set of tires are a must for differing road conditions. All of motorsports know this so we as consumers should follow their example. AWD is just the drivetrain, putting power to the wheels, but the tires are the ones that are in direct contact with the road.

I just put the Sumitomo's on and I really like them. They re really quiet compared to stock, and they ride real smooth.

Thanks for the recommendation Mike (High Rev)!!!

Hey Mike,

I also found a couple of nails in my Advans.

Be careful guys, the Advans are so sticky they tend to attract nails, like mice to cheese.

Those Sumi's have a nasty rating on tirerack. One owner said after 12,000 miles they turned to crap. But that makes sense to me for the low low $89 price.

Sumitomo's have a history of turning hard after a year or two which would not be recommended for winter use.

Everyone really should check out the Semperit Sport Grip M&S winter tires that discounttire.com offers in the Evo's OEM size. They are a highly rated Austrian tire...a division of Continental.

A best buy in an all season tire is the Continental ContiExtremeContact. Tirerack.com has them in the OEM size for a little over $100.
