Well he didn't interfere actually the ball was over the stand and he didn't reach over the wall!!! It is only called fan Interference when they reach for it(like some kid did in a Yankees game a couple of years back), if you look at the picture alot of ppl are reaching for it and Alou is reaching into the stands to catch the ball!

It may not be intereference by the rule book, but Alou had the ball if that fan didn't interfere. So in MY rule book he screwed up bad. They have his name and everything up on www.suntimes.com

For a guy who played baseball and is STILL a baseball coach like
himself, you think he would of known better.

1 out or 2 outs, it shouldn't have mattered. we're talking about professional ball players here. prior was clearly distracted after that play and apparently, so was gonzalez. this is where
the young cubbies lack in post-season experience. i also would blame dusty baker for leaving prior out for sooooooooo long. and then bringing in a relief pitcher just to intentionally walk the next
batter. what a way to add momentum to the marlins. oh and bernie mac during 7th inning stretch....one word of advice, don't count your chickens...especially for a jinxed team like the cubs. but with that said, lets go woody!!!

This is one of the reasons why I hate baseball. Fan interferance? Come on. You don't see fans rushing down the field to catch TD passes or cutting through the court to dunk alleyoops. When most sports restrict fans to just have an emotional and psychological impact on a game, baseball fans are allowed to have a physical impact on the game and ruin the momentum of either team, and that's exactly what that fan did. He ruined the Cubs' momentum in that inning by interferring what was clearly a catchable ball by Alou. It doesn't matter if he didn't reach over the fence. The ball was on its way into Alou's glove and he stuck his hand out right in the middle of the ball's path. That's interferance. That's what we call a COCKBLOCK! If Alou had caught that ball, it would have been a second out and the whole Alex Gonzales thing would've never happened. He would've never been in that pressure situation, but then again - they are professional athletes. People expect them to rise when needed and the Cubs just faltered in that inning. How can you allow 8 runs in, what could be, the most important game in the series? The tide has changed and the ball is now on the Cubs. They have to win tonight. I hate baseball, but I support Chicago sports so go Cubs! Lets have marlin for dinner!

i think it is messed up that they have announced the dudes name, where he works and what team he coaches (he coaches an all star baseball team). they have interviewed his neighbors, familty and friends.

In the article i read it said he didnt show up for work today, called in sick.

Not to be a hater or flamer here but i can pretty much sum this up in 2 words, **** happens... Hey the guy made a mistake, give him a break he was just as into the game as the rest of the fans there and he didnt see alou charging for the ball, his eyes were focused on the same thing many other fans eyes were, the BALL .. I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that if it were any other person sitting there they would do the same thing under the same circumstances.... Ok once again not tryin to be a flamer or hater cuz i dont care who gets to the series as long as its not those damn yankees, im tired of seein them win so many titles.. Ok one last time here to all u cubs fans, give the guy a break he screwed up, it happens life goes on, its only baseball..... my .02
