what the police situation like at MOD. I really dont like feeling like an ambush is coming at any minute.

 

I'd describe the event as 1/2 car meet and 1/2 corporate picnic. It's not like we're meeting up in some shady parking lot to street race for $20.

The police will not ambush everyone at the event. It is a public event, that is somewhat supervised and completely allowed. I have been going since 2005, although I missed last year, and I don't ever recall seeing a cop come to the event.

The police situation, on the roads, isn't bad as long as your not being stupid and asking for trouble. They will not be "waiting" for people as they come out, but they will chill on the highways, waiting for someone to be stupid. The police are always out, usually more so when the event is over then before it starts. I have never heard of any case of someone getting pulled over for silly minor things.. ie exhaust or no front plate. Have heard a few stories of people getting pulled over for speeding, but that is kind of a given.

In your 2008 pictures you have a shot of my old Phoenix Red OZ Rally, god I miss her sometimes. Thanks for the extra picture of her, made me smile. =)

And ya this year I'll be there for sure. Only reason I missed last year is because my Evo decided to have an issue about an hour out from the plant and I had to call off MOD.

schaumburg convoy sounds like a good idea. everyone bring your 2-way radios this time!

 

I have no problem with a Schaumburg convoy, but I know some of the people further out might have an issue with that location. Plus what roads are under construction need to be taken into factor for everyone's sake. And if we do a Schaumburg convoy meet up spot, we need to start thinking of a partial place to actually meet up at.

**Anyone know if AMS is going to be offering a convoy out from there shop yet? They have a few times in the past. A convoy out from AMS's shop in West Chicago would be closer to Normal, then one in Schaumburg.

Last year I was apart of the convoy out of Fox Valley and we encountered a lot of construction and 2 lane roads so our group got split up multiple times and multiple stops had to be made to re-group.

2-way radios is a good idea, but not everyone has them, nor do they work well when the group gets spread out. Convoy in 2005 was soo big that the front part of the group couldn't hear the back part and vice versa.

Not trying to make things difficult, just putting all that information out there.

Anyone starting a convoy that's not waaaaaay out in the suburbs ? I'm probably starting my morning car trip to MOD closer to the city on the north side.

 

how about meeting at charlestowne mall instead? that way its not too bad a trek to the highway i dont think and we dont have to deal much with construction?

 

Personally, right now I am waiting to find out is AMS is going to be doing a Pre-Event to MOD the night before and if they will have a convoy out from there place before I commit to any convoy.

Plus AMS's shop is closer to Normal.
