Factory Mod 2010 - Normal, IL
Remember last year how we got caught up in just trying to leave the sears parking lot, and then again in all the construction and traffic? If AMS isn't having a convoy I just want to make sure there not dealing with a tricky area and or tons of construction because that was annoying as heck. So definitely somewhere close to the interstate so we can hope right on. Don't ya think?
Is anyone interested in possibly leaving Friday afternoon instead of Saturday morning?
We can find a hotel to stay at and hang out in bloomington-normal, hit up some bars and whatnot.
I needs as much beauty sleep as possible so early morning meeting is tough for me.

If you get a convoy together in that area, what we can do is be in contact so that the Joliet convoy hits I55 the around the same time the other convoy hits on I55 and join the two. Just an idea.
I have no problem with a Schaumburg convoy, but I know some of the people further out might have an issue with that location. Plus what roads are under construction need to be taken into factor for everyone's sake. And if we do a Schaumburg convoy meet up spot, we need to start thinking of a partial place to actually meet up at.
**Anyone know if AMS is going to be offering a convoy out from there shop yet? They have a few times in the past. A convoy out from AMS's shop in West Chicago would be closer to Normal, then one in Schaumburg.
Last year I was apart of the convoy out of Fox Valley and we encountered a lot of construction and 2 lane roads so our group got split up multiple times and multiple stops had to be made to re-group.
2-way radios is a good idea, but not everyone has them, nor do they work well when the group gets spread out. Convoy in 2005 was soo big that the front part of the group couldn't hear the back part and vice versa.
Not trying to make things difficult, just putting all that information out there.

I also had a buddy who was in the back half of the convoy and he didn't even make it to the gas station before we had to leave because of that traffic/ construction/ lights.
Then I recall a vast majority of the convoy stopping with my car went down and they all left around the same time after trying to help me out.
But to each their own on how we recall/ remember the convoy. I was just stating what I've experienced in the past.
Hi Lily,
Nice to see you upgraded. To everyone else.. simply put, each time someone builds a convoy, it gets confused and half the people get held back, The other are doing 100 mph plus. Thats why last 2 years I just leave Chicago early and just bump into other people and just cruise. Anyone in Chicago want to go with just PM me.

Oh and I'm down for a convoy or just taking off with people and bumping into them. I won't be beating on my Eva on the way up, don't need a repeat of last year.
Well I left with the beginning of the convoy and I do recall making a stop at some gas station with like roughly 10 other cars to wait for the rest of the group to catch up because ppl kept getting caught in the traffic/ construction/ at lights. After a little bit a few more people caught up to us, but we had to leave without being able to wait for the rest of the convoy because the gas station ppl threaten to call the cops on us.

what way did you guys go? i don't remember any traffic or construction....?? was it on 59?
cerville, didn't we take 59 to 47?
We took rt59 to rt30 and then to I55. There was construction in Plainfield as we were getting towards rt30. There wasn't heavy construction but it was there. I don't remember how bad the traffic was but I know there is normally traffic around that area. I remember everything she's mentioned. Only thing I missed was when she was having car problems because she was behind me.
Before we got kicked out of the gas station.

My Evo failed about an hour out from Normal and the event. Once we had gotten onto I55, my Evo started running rough so I just chilled out and drove like 5 over the speed limit. Anyone behind me, basically stopped.
Oh and thanks for the picture! Good times, til my Evo failed.
