Here is an interesting thing I was told by the guy doing the FQ mapping. Mitsubishi has been very helpful to him in mapping the Evo x but they contracted nippondenso to develop the ECU for the evo x and Mitsubishi does not have direct access to the original code. Interesting I say

That doesn't sound good!

No problem man, I probably wouldn't know where it was anyway.

It looks like the the fq series in the UK is a joint development by HKS, ECUTeck and Mitsubishi.
Thanks for the awesome info. if mitsu uk believes the SST can take 360 hp then who's to oppose that? reading your posts have made me very confident in the SST's abilities.

keep us all informed on your SST progress.

The same source has confirmation from getrag that the gearbox will cope with 360 HP with no adverse effects or modifications required so it does all look good

That is the dying question isn't it? for the US owners especially with gas prices nowadays.

5 speed evo's and 6 speed EVO's suck in the freeway (3.7 -> 4K) when going 75 mph -> 80 mph...

6 speed EVO IX actually get's less gas mileage than the 5 speed which didn't make sense.

sounds like the SST should have better gas mileage on the freeway if it's doing 2500 RPM on 62-63 MPH.

My experience is the SST is 9.6% more economical overall.

Hi Long time between posts.
I have now fitted the Ralliart pipe and inlet kit. here are the pic's. I have not gotten it re dynoed but there was a noticeable improvement No error codes. The things I like about the kit are the larger cast aluminum turbo outlet and the cast aluminum inlet.

Hey NZEvo X. Great post, lots of good information. I am in the process of ordering a SST JDM Evo x. I saw a lot of clips on you tube. Now that you have an exhaust, would you say your car sounds like an automatic from the outside when accelerating? I face a lot of traffic on a daily basis thus i think i am ready to give up a clutch. I must say, i have waiting for a post such as yours to clarify some concerns i had here.
