SST observations and proper manual shift technique?
hey man
Just read your message.
Out of curiousity how many miles do you have on your car?
The SST is a good piece of (german) engineering, and it does have a slight learning curve.
I think if you drive your car more and in different events / scenarios, like mountain roads, etc, you will start to learn more about the transmission and the car, etc. It takes time to get accustomed to it. Once you do you will find that, at least in sport mode and SS, the shifting is most basically perceptible as "instant" but of course there's lag in everything mechanical, right?
This isn't a fiber optic transmission (yet)
But quicker than a 5spd manual it is!!!
I'm local and I already have >20k miles on my car, if you need pointers on SST shifting feel free to PM me. Cheers!

like most said, most of the time the shifts are very quick... almost "instant." however, if you're on the gas > 3/4 throttle, and go above 6k rpm, then it's no longer instant. at full throttle, the car will always hesitate to shift above 6k--it has never shifted instantaneously under those circumstances, which sucks because that's when shift accuracy is most important. usually the shift will lag ~500 rpm during those times.
now, i've been trying to get my car tuned, and it seems that my car is a little special... even different from other '10's. my tuner has tuned other '10's, both mr and gsr, and didn't have problems. however, i already took 2 trips over, and the last time he couldn't flash my ecu (the data is rejected). seems mistubishi is trying to stop hackers now, and made a mid-year change. he did note that my mivec tables are more aggresive, so, there is definetely some programming changes between my car (maybe all '10's) and previous years. so.................... it's possible my sst programming is different as well.
so, hey, maybe one of these days we could get together for lunch or something and try out each other's cars.
it'll be cool to meet other evo owners anyway. these cars seem somewhat rare on the roads, which surprised me.
