Sports mode down shift

When driving in sports mode and I down shift, it revs really loud down to the next gear. Not sure if it's a rev or the engine, making the vroom noise.

Whereas in normal mode, it's just a complete silent down shift/gear.

Just a little worried, is this normal? The sound is amazing, but I just want to make sure it's all going smooth and suppose to happen.

Can anyone explain the noise please.

Thanks.

Might just be down-shifting too early.

The vroom noise is the technical term for what us laymans call engine noise. Sport mode more aggressively downshifts so it will downshift into a high rev range. Combined that with rev matching downshifts of the SST, and you get that interesting "vroom" sound.

Yes this is normal. when i got my 2011 WW X MR... the dealership made me drive it in all modes. super sport mode is beastly loud.. and the rev points change depending on modes... sports mode will change gears at around 5-6k and super sport will shift at redline and those will be your downshifting parameters.

Sport mode will try to keep you above 3k RPM for the powerband. Read your manual folks.

actually, if you're flipping the paddle or the gear lever to downshift, it should be in the higher RPM range no matter if you're normal or s-sport since it's in manual mode. Are you manually downshifting or did you just flip the switch from normal to sport?

All this talk about the vroom noise made from the trans and engine makes me think about the south park episode with the bikers that go around reving their engines in south park. I think we should all go driving in S-Sport mode and make vroom noises at the people around us. LOL...anyone get that reference?
