List of SST filter including OEM

Hi guys...

I know for the longest time we had to use the OEM SST filter (~$120 per se) and now there is OEM equivalent one being sold @ ~ $65.

What's your thoughts? Are you still sticking with genuine parts? If you installed the OEM-alike, what did you notice?

TIA

Hi,

I'm the SSP rep in Canada. I'm located in Montreal. You can call me to discuss anytime (514)830-0116.

I've sold MANY paper replacement filters to customers all over the world and there's no reason to pay $120 for a paper filter. The SSP one is identical to OEM at a fraction of the cost.

You can also alternatively pay a little more for the lifetime reusable stainless SST filter and never have to buy another one again (one of the best long-term investments for the SST).

I just bought the SSP reusable. It's a good looking part. Haven't installed it yet.

I plan on getting some pics of the instal that I'll be doing soon and I'll post it all here. I've got a few SST parts going on very soon.

My ssp reusable is already in. You don't really "feel" a difference with the different filter i don't think. I'm pretty sure it's the new fluid that makes the tranny run smoother. The ssp reusable is just nice because, even with the 100$ difference between the ssp oem and ssp reusable, you only have to change the fluid twice to make your money back and then some. Manual says it should be changed every 30k but i'm going to change it every 15k because, for $13,000, i'm gonna baby the hell outta the tranny.

I remember someone mentioning on the forum that a FORD car shared the same filter as ours. Does anyone have the part number for the FORD trans filter that is the same as ours? I am also not seeing any part numbers or links from SSP, dodson or Shepard Trans?

Also has anyone used the reusable filter and have pictures of what it looked like after a fluid change? Can anyone comment on the filtration qualities of the reusable filter vs the paper filter?

SSP reusable is the way to go. As Jinxs said, 2 changes and its paid for. You just need a bit of brake cleaner and you're good to go.

Hmm.. I've never seen an SST filter, but there is a ford filter for the F-series trucks that use a paper filter.. The number we've always use was a T-145. Again, I don't know if that's what you are talking about since I've never seen one in person, but I know is a filter that fits fords.. They actually use 2 filters with that applications. One regular "pan filter" and the little cartridge filter..

Oem filter and fluid is best for the long run. Dont waste you time and money on reusable filters.

Don't try to save money on a filter or fluid. It would take you decades to offset the cost of a transmission in the event of a failure. Buy an OEM fluid and filter. Hit up Fredbeans as I currently haven't found a cheaper supplier.
