SSP Trans cooler with or without stock trans cooler?

I recently slid on the ice and hit the front end of my 2014 MR on a sign post. Fortunately, I hit squarely on the crash bar. So, no serious (structural) damage but the bumper cover bits and pieces blew up like they were made out of jolly ranchers candy. Lost a headlight. Bent two of the BBS rims. Bent a control arm. Damaged the intercooler, lower intercooler pipe, radiator and the trans cooler. That is the bad.

The good.... replacing much of the stock, damaged stuff with the following upgrades:
Varis Runduce bumper, side skirts and front lights
ETS intercooler w upper and lower pipes
Upgraded radiator
Though stock not damages -throwing on an ETS v2 quiet exhaust and hi-flow cat test pipe + wideband at the same time

Finally, I ordered the SSP Titan Series Front Mount Transmission Cooler thinking that this was an obvious upgrade to the stock trans cooler. I now realize that the SSP unit is a closed loop system that is usually added on in addition to the stock trans cooler. Although, I understand that you may be able to successfully delete the stock trans cooler w the SSP in place. This bums me out a little because when I ordered it, I thought it was a straight replacement (upgrade) to the stock unit.

QUESTION:
Has anyone successfully run the SSP trans cooler alone, without the stock unit in place? Any issues? Or, anyone have an old stock unit lying around that they want to sell?

Thank you for your help.

I'm sure that if you weren't overheating with the stock cooler, it won't be an issue to delete it as long as the SSP cooler is larger than the stock cooler.

You should call up SSP and see what they say.
