Where the hell do I go???

Just about to hit 60K with my '08 MR so I need to take it somewhere to get the trans fluid changed.

Problem is I live in Atascadero/San Luis Obispo area. It's half way between LA and Frisco on the 101.

I HATE driving to Bakersfield. How's the one in Salinas? Options??

I guess I should have added that I am not a mechanic and don't have many tools.

Any helpful posts will be greatly appreciated.

If you can take off a wheel, the air box, and the under trays you can do it yourself. You need an 8mm allen socket for the plugs. You can take the filter off with a 10" adjustable wrench. Any competent mechanic should be able to do it for you. If you take it somewhere they are unfamiliar with the car, I suggest you bring your own fluid.

Does anyone have a better pic of the filler hole location on the EVO?

It's the only Black Allen bolt/plug on top of transmission. Directly under airbox (nearly so).

Once you remove the airbox you can see the allen bolt. You might have to move the wire loom slightly to see it (from what I remember).

I have a question: There are several places around here that do oil and transmission fluid changes (in Virginia) that are not EVO specific shops. Is that not an option out there in Timbucktwo where you live?

Its not that difficult at all. A dealership or a rep oil/lube place would be able to preform this for you. I personally would not do this myself because its against my condo association to work on the car in the parking lot but there is even a car bay rental place that has lifts and tools in the area and it only costs $14.00 an hour to rent and the advise from the guys that run it on how to do stuff is available as well at no cost.

Thanks again for all the info everyone! I found a local guy that's going to do it for $100. He's just opened up his own shop 2 blocks from where I live lol. He hit me up in the parking lot the very night my friend/backyard mechanic backed out of the job.
