SST problem: code P1836
SST problem: code P1836
Last Friday, I got the warning (Service Transmission) in my dashboard and a check engine.
It occurred when I had just done 1 hour drive, much of it in the traffic with frequent stop. It was a sunny and hot day.
When the warning appeared, my gears were slipping, the transmission wasn't shift.
I parked my car on the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. 2 hours later, I restarted the vehicle, there was no notice (Transmission Service) but still the check-engine. I was able to roll about 2 min and shifter the 6 gears without any abnormal symptoms. I stopped the vehicle for fear of damaging my transmission even more. Using my OBD II, I picked up these 3 codes:
P1836: Shift fork 1 malfunction
P2733: Clutch / shift solenoid 1, spool stuck
P2809: Clutch / Shift switching solenoid 2, spool stuck
I have not cleared the codes or restarted the vehicle since.
The vehicle has 118,000 km (73,000 miles)
The TC-SST transmission oil change was made with OEM DiaQueen SSTF-1 oil and the OEM filter at 44,000 km (27 000 miles and 88,000 km (54 000 miles).
The car is modified:
Cold air intake, turbo back exhaust 3 "(with hi-flow cat), ECU Reflash, etc.
I have around 300 hp.
I Never have problem with the TC-SST before today. It always shift well, just slip a bit when the tranny is cold on winter or when it's very hot and in the traffic.
Never track the car but only drag race, about 10-12 races per year.
I wonder what I should do right now. Try to erase the codes, install an better oil
cooler and change the transmission fluid and filter.

Did you ever determined if the fluid change helped? Mine is acting similar and seems the SST fluid gets really hot and above 200F very quickly and then i have issues. I am thinking the previous shop underfilled it.
