The event was really a lot of fun. There seemed to be a lot of concern about the safety of the Shenandoah circuit before the event, but the whole event went off without any wall contact as far as I am aware. It was my first time running there, and I thought the track was both challenging and a lot of fun to drive. Catching air off the jump before the Karosel at 130+ certainly got my attention though. I would not hesitate to go back.
I also want to thank Martin from AMS for trusting me with the driving duties for the event, and Martin, Justin, and all the guys back at the shop for building and prepping a really cool car to drive. My impressions after my first time in the time attack car are "WOW"
followed immediately by "Oh Yea". The car is just silly fast. We spent the whole event dialing in a new suspension, and getting faster every time out. Really grabbing the biggest chunks of time during the two actual time attack sessions. Missing overall FTD by .16 seconds was both good and bad. Good in that we almost beat the silvia after spending most of the practice time being 2 seconds a lap behind him; but bad in that I know that had I just gotten on the gas a tick earlier maybe somewhere, or cut a corner just a little better, the results would have been different. But certainly nothing to hang our heads about. The silvia was quite a bit lighter (450lbs), and almost as quick in a straight line as we were, and was well driven by Tyler McQuarrie. The tightness of the track was possibly to his advantage, but the way the ams car pulls off the tight corners was probably ours. The great thing is that we have a lot of potential to go way faster than we are right now, and that has me really psyched as to the future for this car. I used to think the cyber evo was just untouchable, but now knowing how much more we could do with this car, but how fast it already is....
it should be interesting what the next year brings.

If it all goes as we have planned.. expect a late Spring or early Summer Mid Ohio date in 2007.... and yes, we will be going back to Summit Point next year, maybe even two seperate dates, one on the big track and one at Shenandoah... :-)
A big THANKS! to all of you who came out to this event. For this series and these events to go well, we live and die from the support of people like you. Expect BIG things next year!

Nikolas, 2 things..
Is there going to be an Event close to SEMA this year, I see you guys have a December date out west, but nothing listed right after the SEMA show like last year.
Also, please please please get a full schedule up as early as possible. This past weekend's Summit Point event was announced "late" and I missed it because I had asked my sister to have her wedding that weekend back in April because there was nothing scheduled... (not that my replacement driver did bad)

The next time my car goes to an event it'll be in Modified or Unlimited class. I'll see you guys next year. Please let me know if we can somehow organize/help organize an event at NHIS Loudon.

Great event Nikolas. Very well run and very well organized. I had a blast competing other than a blown wastegate on the 1st lap of the 1st practice session (27.5 psi on a stock Evo VIII turbo = crazy misfiring leading to racing at 1/2 throttle all day = a very frustrated driver).
A few other great venues woult be Pocono Raceway's long course, VIR, Watkins Glen and Lime Rock along with the Summit Point circuit.
A cool thing to add would be discounts to drivers who enter into more than 1 event.
Anyway, I can see this type of event catching on big time
Keep up the great work.

Wow, what a great event! This Justin from AMS btw. I just wanted to post and show my appreciation to Redline for putting on an awsome event, and thank all the competitors for bringing your best. I saw alot of teams this weekend working hard to get that last little bit (includind us) out of their cars. Special thanks to Mark Daddio for wringing every last bit out of both our cars, and to Jon of JIC/Hankook for helping with some Japanese instructions. Also, I would like to thank Bobby for returning my digital camera I left sitting out along the pit road. That kind of thoughtfulness goes to show the quality of people attending, and involved in road racing community. See you at the next one!
