I meant forward pull. R-comps would develop a lot of drag with the road.

Hey guys, I am new here.... first post even. I just had to chime in here and give my .02

I dont drive an Evo, I have an RX-8. I DO drive to the track every month with my 285 V710's (30 miles). I have to say that there IS a BIG differance in how the car reacts to the road. it catches every little crack and groove in the road. It pulles like a Motha. but it beats dragging the extra wheels with me to the track.

also they are very unsafe in the rain. but here in Cali that is not to much of a problem. although I have driven them in the rain. I try to stick t o surface streets or the slow lane when I do.

ok thats it.

with that said, My friend just got an Evo, and I have been considering getting one. I came on here to see what tire sizes would fit on the Evo. I see a 285 V710 would fit! this is good news for me.
I see someone has them on a Enkei NT03 9.5" wide. what is the offset to get those to fit? also was there any fender rolling required? or anything else special needed tog et them to fit?

the wheels I have are the Enkei RPF1 18x9.5" it would be sweet if I can keep them, but I think the offset is wrong. (they were a special order from Enkei specifically for the RX-8.

+40mm with spacers is the typical setup, with fender rolling all around...

oh damn...

does the fender rolling make it look bad form the outside? (the RX-8 fits the 285's with the special order wheel, so I dont know what fender rolling looks like)

and thanks for the responce!

EDIT: if I remember tight, mine are +38

you can't tell from the outside when rolled...you just have to bend the lip flat...

Thats what I thought..... hmmmm.
man AWD turbo with 285 race tires....... sounds like a blast!

Thanks again for your response! That helps alot!

one more question.

you think the +38's would work also, or is it just that close with the +40's that the extra 2mm would rub?

to run the 285's you will need a +24mm offset on an 18x10. this should leave the inside edge of the tire near the factory specs and extend the rim outwards. you will need to roll your fenders for this to work.

I think that the ideal size for 285s is 18x10 but most run the 18x9.5 due to availability and its become a pretty pruven setup...

well yeah, thats my current setup.

If possible I would love to keep my current setup. (although the 285 is really ment for a 10" wheel. but it fits fine on a 9.5)

EIDT: yeah what you just said above.

RA-1's would be the best price/performance ratio in my opinion if u wanna drive on them to the autox and do good. im personally gonna stick w/ my azenis, cuz i dont care about podium finish at the autox

Speeddemon, I'm one that has 18X9.5 NT03+M +40 with 25mm spacers up front (12mm for +27), no spacer in the rear, and 285 V710s. I have major fender rolling up front and light rolling in the rear, but you can't see any evidence of the rolling from outside. You have to reach under the lip to feel the difference, because mine was done properly and meticulously over about a 4hr timespan - it was a lot of work, but it was worth it.
