Autox Tires

What tire would be a good one for autox I thinking on Nitto NT-01, Toyo RA1 and Michelin Sport Cup.

I am looking for a tire that I could use in the street if I want, but with an excelent handling in the track.

Thanks for all the suggestion.

Do a search on stock autocross setup, STU autocross or SM autocross. You will find the answer you need. Different tires for different class, of course.

The NT-01 and RA-1s are both a great idea for an r-comp that you can drive to/from the track.

285/30-18 Kumho V710s on 18X9.5 NTO3+Ms. I cannot drive them on the street.

Fastest cars on street tires use the Yoko Advan Neova.
I have them and love them.

He wasn't asking about street tires, though.

I drive on my V710's on the street. Never more than 30 miles one way, but you can drive on the street with them. Many of my friends and competitors do.

that said, I don't recommend it especially if you have the chance of regular afternoon rainshowers like you could expect in Puerto Rico...

I didn't say it wasn't possible to do so. I said I cannot drive them on the street, because it's just extremely foolish for reasons of safety AND tire wear. I wouldn't in a million years waste tread to drive 60 miles round trip on such expensive tires unless it were an absolute necessity, and that's not taking the danger into account if anything were to occur in terms of weather conditions.

I agree with Warrtalon. I just bought some 285/30 A6's.......I wouldn't dream of wasting precious tire on the street. Any street tire no matter how cheap or lame is better the an A6 or V710 on the street.

overall we are all in agreement. I just disagreed with the way the message was worded. your original post made it sound like you absoulutely positively cannot under any circumstances drive on the street. foolish or not is a matter of opinion.

I don't drive on my 710's unless it's local (within 30 miles). You do need to be careful until you get heat in the tires, but otherwise, I would be driving on these every day in the summer time if I could afford it. Where I live it doesn't rain 8 months out of the year, so weather doesn't really factor in here, just how big your tire budget is

The traction would be awesome but you might not be thrilled with the highway pull. I wonder if the extra friction generated by the R-comps would be noticed at higher speeds.

Doubtful on the highway unless you do a lot of high-speed pulls all the time for comparison. I don't really notice on long straights on the track...

highway pull? With a good alignment that is not a problem. The car is just as stable as with street tires. I do not change my alignment between autox and the street.

extra friction is called traction in my book

the hankook VENTUS Z212 are a fun beginner tire as well...similar to the falkens that a lot of people use...I believe i will be starting the season off with a set of these to get back into the swing of things and get my new setup dialed in and then a set of r comps to finish season off...(i have a caged autox crx that will also be used for autox this season but on some v710s...)
