hey nils - glad damage was minor. Good luck at the Time Attack at Buttonwillow (as if you need it).

I'll be at Pahrump with SpeedVentures that weekend in my Miata. So you will be in my neck of the woods and I'll be in yours.

I was thinking about starting a thread on the line and strategy for config 13 cw. I ran the event this past weekend and got a taste of the track (when it wasn't raining). I have some google earth overlays and track acquisition data that may be interesting, but I think the only guy that hasn't done that track and that configuration is Percy.

As of now, I should be able to hit 2:00-2:01, but there will be some fierce competition in the mod division so some input from someone like Nils (1:59 on street tires!) may be useful. I would like to get under 2:00.

Should I spend the time? Any interest?

To the extent you want to go to the effort of disclosing your strategy to your competitors, I'm sure they'd be interested.

true, but i do this for fun. there's a little contingency money involved, but i'm not going to get rich if i place.

although i want to be competitive, i get the most out of tracking and have the most fun when i can run very close with others. i try to learn something everytime i go to an event. part of the joy is analyzing what i can do better and i know a lot of you guys feel the same.

What parts of the track are you wondering about? I have run that config many times.

i usually have the biggest problem with long braking zones, potentially mixed with trailbraking, into late apex corners. in this case it's the sweeper. i take an angled line into the braking zone, trailbrake a bit, settle the car, try to maintain as much speed as possible, then rotate, and get back on full throttle as soon as possible. i find that it's the toughest part of the track for me. when i ran on sunday, i was on new, full tread RA-1s on the rear only which made that section particularly difficult. i was frequently putting 2 off the left berm coming out of the corner (probably from taking too acute of an angle, apexing a little too early and being too aggressive on the throttle).

i have a sense of what i need to work on for the saturday practice (including that corner), but wanted to see if the time it would take to discuss the track would be worth it for others.
