One Lap

OK so who's participating this season? Are John and the AMS boys going to make another run at it this year? I see that Doug has been busy in the past months building a 2.7L powered setup that looks nice that he and Luke Russell will be running with.

I'll be transit and competition driving an SRT4 this year. The car is not mine, just a local friend's who asked me if I wanted to go. We'll all be sharing the driving and some competition loads, so it should be a blast!

The car/team (I'm in the middle):

Last I heard:
- Jon may be driving a factory-backed Noble!
- AMS isn't going to be competing.
- Doug's "Economy Class" abomination is going to be a sight to see. Last I was at Top Speed, the car was only a shell with a partial cage, but that was a LONG time ago.

with how hectic the time attack and drag season is this year and coupled with the workload at the shop we will not be able to compete. Dont worry we will be back.

FWIW, the Noble M400 that ran last year's One Lap was at my NASA event this weekend at PMI in Colorado practicing again for this year's One Lap. The owner, Derek Whitis, has a double stacker trailer with a big toter home that his crew drives from track to track, and I guess he flies in to drive whenever the events occur so that he can get practice time. I think he finished 7th overall last year, but I'm not sure what he's changed since then, if anything. He was the fastest car of our event this weekend with regular 1:37.XX laps. My best was a 1:39.6 with lots of 1:40.XXs. Maybe one day I may get the opportunity to drive in One Lap for someone.

I don't know if that's the Noble that will be driven by Jon or if there will be a separate Noble. I've seen the Whitis Noble referred to as the "premier race prepped Noble in the US." Here's a quick vid I caught of him coming out of turn 10 and heading down the straight. He has a nice backfire and BOV purge during the shift.

Dang it, I was hoping you guys competed this year to try to take the overall crown home. As, long as you have plans of racing the event again it's ok, that will give you guys time to get TA2 in shape!!!

The only saving grace is the cage isn't too intrusive as it's more of a drag cage than a road racing cage. Nonetheless, I'm bringing lots of Motrin

Derek (the silver Noble) Should be running, he finished 7th or something last year.

I was going to be in the 1G factory car (The "Project Gotham Racing" entry from last year that finished 9th) There have been some changes at 1G, and that seems to be very up in the air, with a "probably not" vibe to it at this point.

Which leaves me looking of course. I have an offer for a car I think can win, but I need funding. Otherwise that car will sit.

1G is going to help me look at some possible private entered Nobles, but that's a long shot at this stage.

Derek Whitis' Noble is now green as you can see in the vid above.

Ah.. I saw it in December it was still silver then. It had some bodywork damage (from a pit road oversight) So I guess he decided to paint the whole thing.

That sux Jon! I am going to hold back my kids' lunch money (kids can get by on one meal a day), to financially help you get where you belong, In the cockpit of a racecar!! You are awesome at what you do, and you better remember us little guys when you get to F1 or IRL! I will find a seat for you at WWIII. There will be a Noble in that, I will hold him back, jump in his car and take off!!

Again, sorry to hear.

It is sad, but I am hoping something else comes up. I would need about $4k to try to make it in the other car, and that would be bare bones, but man I would like to drive it.

1G isn't totally out yet, he may or may not have a car come One Lap time, and like I said, he is going to help out with some of his customers.

You tell the guy with the Noble in WWIII that he and I should do One Lap, and we will get from South Bend to IRP on Saturday to kick *** there as well

You got pm Jon, and maybe here is another shot at a ride. Not sure. Todd James was at WWII in the Subie. Contact him also, if interested.
