2008 Street Mod Discussion
I personally don't have any dog in this fight but I may write a letter on the behalf of you guys. Here's an idea instead of penalizing cars based on the tire width, why not give 'em a break based on their drive train.
Eg: FWD cars can lower their min. weight to 2700lbs
RWD cars can lower their min. weight to 2800lbs
AWD cars can lower their min. weight to 2900lbs
That way FWD car can have a weight advantage to make up for their poor drivetrain. RWD can have a slight weight advantage for their lack of front driven wheels. 2900lbs would be a more realistic weight limit for AWD cars and less costly for most competitors. Thoughts?
Also I don't whole heartedly agree with moving the EVO to ASP, moving some of the slower ASP cars down to BSP seems to make more sense.

I have 4 Fno1r-c's I may part with 17X10+25 for the right offer..
can you guys use the +25 offset, they fit my STi great but I think the evo up front would be fine, a 17X10+25 in the back may not fly and tuck..

Here is what the current min. weights are for a 2.0L FWD N/A, 2.0L AWD Turbo, and 3.0L RWD N/A car:
FWD : 1800#
AWD : 2735#
RWD : 2400#
If the proposed rules pass the FWD (Civic) gets to drop 200# while the AWD (EVO) gains 200# (with the current most popular tire sizes used on each). That is a 400# swing . . .
You could keep the race seats but strap a couple child seats in the back and throw some luggage in the trunk to prove a point!
I have never weighed my Evo and do not have a good feel for what it would weigh, or whether this new minimum is even an issue for me. I saw that Mark Daddio posted a number of pages back that his car was around 3000 and he has race seats, a CF hood, no back seat, no roll bar, etc.
I wonder what my car weighs now? 04 RS, lightweight battery, rear seat delete, Buschur TBE, hollow rear bar, race seats (this year)...
Anyone know what a stock 04 RS weighs? I know that Mitsu said 3175, but I'm not sure how close that is to reality.

"Race Seats" doesn't necessarily mean "light weight" seats. Unless you have carbon or kevlar seats, or some certain non-FIA approved seats, if you have them mounted with steel bases and sliders then they probably are not saving you a whole lot of weight.
The Sparco EVO line, and even the Pro2000 (non carbon version) are all around 19-20#.
My Ultrashield alum. seat in the EVO is around 15-16#. My Nex buckets in my supra are around 12-13#. The go-kart seat I used last year for the passenger seat was around 6 pounds w/ mounting bracktes.
My car was around 2860 last year. The main things to get it to that weight were:
A/C removal
light seats
mini radiator
remove stock seat belts
remove rear seats
replace stock steering wheel
Girodiscs brake rotors
medium-weight wheels
