NASA TTB or TTA?
I gave up trying to squeeze into TTA, especially since last year it was ruled in my area by C5 Z06's, and given that one of the main tracks was Road America, I didn't stand too much of a chance.
I just couldn't keep up in the top end, but I'd always catch them in the turns.
I think I'm aiming for TTS now, which was even slower than the TTA vettes last year.
Although I'm trying to aim for 2010 to run a bunch of the TT events and try and win some! The rules may all change again. It's difficult to understand now even!

I'm using those points to slide down into TTB personally. It's as much a cost competitive move as any. TTA/S is just expensive - on consumables such as gas/tires - as much as anything.
Whatever you pick - MAXIMIZE your class.

if you have a couple points left, do what ever you can to get to a 10 point tire. coming from the 888's you're only 3 away. there is no better points/laptime ratio than tires.
just think about every mod as laptime and it will make your decisions much easier.
888's to hoosier/hankooks are worth at least 2 seconds on a 2 minute lap. there is no other 3 point items to gain that much time out there. you could maybe make an argument for bumping up to the next level of suspension but then you still need proper tires to get the time out of them.
perfect example for a waste of points is taking a 6 point hit on an evo ix for cams. the 20-30whp you gain is not going to give you a return in time as throwing those 6 points into tires. not even close.
also remember that if you're serious about this stuff then you really only need a lap or two to get your quick time in so going down a size but up in grip still pays off. obviously your tires will go away faster since they won't be able to handle the heat as well and will give up sooner. but that doesn't matter in time trials.

I'm not that serious about it yet since I'm still doing HPDE's haha. I'm aiming to have have my TT license by the Grassroots Motorsports UTCC in July at VIR. After that I'll hopefully be doing TT at NASA MA events.

The first set of mods - to cover the 14 (+5 for turbo = 19) for the base class of an VIII/IX are fairly simple. You have a few choices to make, but everyone's probably going to do suspension and tires.
To jump up to A; you get another 19 points to play with. Bigger tires are probably in order - and you've got to add more power to keep up with the Vette's. I'd be thinking aero mods as well.
Hopefully I've helped out some without being too vague. I've got a ton of spreadsheet ideas I've worked up for B and A - I suggest trying the same. Download the spreadsheet from NASA that automatically counts points and it's easier to work with. When you first start adding up; tire sizes are confusing to figure.
Not really.

It's nice in that you check your mods and it figures up all your points for you. Another tab figure your power/weight ratio as well.

For instance getting a different set (wider) of tires/rims since you have more points in A. Or going with a fancier suspension setup (piggybacks, or > $3k MSRP) since you have more points.
I guess I'm screwed. I have 91 points, plus a modified turbo. . .
Off to TTR once I get through the HPDE levels . . .
Nothing like jumping head first into the deep end before checking to see if there's water in the pool!

This should be legal without incurring any points right?
