I think you guys are crazy to do that to a 30k vehicle.

It's an 03. It wasn't a 30k car...

Now it's more than that I'm sure!

Nice build,Whats the difference between FP and XP, Are there noise limits at the Nationals? Did i see the exhaust outlet by the front fender?

Corner balance results would be cool, unreal weight reduction.

XP can use many aero modifications - splitters, wings, etc. . . FP can not.

As for the weight balance, I'd LOVE to see what the F-R weight balance is. Seems like the majority of weight savings are in the rear 2/3 of the car. Is it better or worse than 60/40?

What's the min. weight for a 2.0L Evo in XP - 1800# ???

You're a little quick on those results. It looks like they haven't completed their Friday runs yet. Does look promising though.

I wonder if they had car issues with that DNS on Mark's last run.

I was just thinking the same thing. I saw him and saw some of his runs, but didn't hear anything about it having problems. Let's hope all is well.

The car sure was fun to watch, unfortunately not yet able to topple the long standing Datsun dominance in the class.

I am going to bet with 1 more year's worth of refinement the EVO will be THE car to have in FP class

It is already THE car to have. I hope a few more get built - FP definitely needs the participation.

Im sure the 240z car that won didnt have more than 240-250whp 210-220wtq @ 2100 lbs with rear wheel drive on asphalt. (dyno of one of the top cars - http://sth2.com/Z-car/horsepower.htm)

Im sure the FP Evo can do atleast 30-40% more HP/TQ with 200 lbs more weight. AWD will definitely be an advantage.

The car ran great. The problem was our seeing 70% of the Tue/Wed runs hit cones and being too careful on our Thursday East course runs. This put us about 1.7 seconds down going into Day 2. My first run out was fast in the FP class on Day 2, but than I got sick. When I got back to grid, I was feeling nauseous which was followed by profuse sweating. I made my second run feeling miserable and turned the car over to my son immediately after leaving the course. I ended up spending about an hour with the HPT medics and then going to the Topeka emergency room until 10pm to get a kidney infection diagnosis, rather than attending the awards banquet.

We finished 4th, 0.3 sec behind 2nd and 1.6 sec behind the perennial winner, John Thomas. Not what we were hoping for, but not bad considering the car was built in the three months prior to Nationals and we had little seat time in the FP configuration. I must say that the drivers in FP are a nice group and great sportsmen. Each day before our first runs, they went from car to car and wished each other good luck.

Many thanks to Don Herring Jr. for his continued support and help to get the car trailered to Nationals. Our other sponsors were also key to getting the car prepared to such a high level in a very short time - Robert at Forced Performance, KevinD/Denver/Alex at Evolution Dynamics, Leo at TeamKW, and Kurt Janish at JANCO custom fabrication. Now we have a year to learn left-foot braking and get some seat time in this beast to do it again.

Mark

The side exit exhaust isn't that loud actually, because I included a 6" long, 3" ID, 5" OD Dynatech muffler in the 2.5 ft long exhaust. Corner balance results are 50/50 diagonally, 50/50 left-right in front, 50/50 left-right in rear, 62% front, 38% rear. This was done while adding 80 lbs of ballast to reach the 2400 lb minimum.
