Mitsu clinches 2003 ProRally titles
Higgins/Barrit took first place at the Ojibwe Forest ProRally this past weekend and managed to clinch the driver/co-driver championships. O'Sullivan/Edstrom finished 3rd in the other Evo (way to go BjornChristian
).

With the points this weekend Mitsu also clinched the manufacturer's title.

Good job
and all the drivers. It's too bad that the victories are a bit bittersweet given the tragic events earlier this year.

Thanks for the kind words, Iodine. I'll pass them on to Lauchlin as well, if he isn't lurking already.
All the congratulations should go to David & Dan, who were just unstoppable this year, and the technicians, coordinators, and management from Vermont SportsCar, Co-OrdSport, Mellors Elliot Motorsport, Mitsubishi Motors and Michelin. The technicians and equipment we've had this year have just been absolutely exceptional, and I think this is a testament to just how good the Lancer Evolution is in what was basically Gr. N+ trim.
And I'd also like to extend a warm thanks to our other partners, Mitsubishi Fuso, PIAA, Infinity Audio, and Motul Lubricants.
Two more races to go, and Lauchlin has extended his 2nd place lead in the driver's championship to 12 points over Tim O'Neil in the Focus SVT. Expect two clean, steady drives from us at Wild West and LSPR, as we attempt to wrap up the 1-2 sweep in the driver's championship.
Cheers,
- Christian
PS: If anyone is planning to be at Wild West or LSPR, drop a line or come by and say hello.

Man, just watching the Maine rally the other night reinforced just how smooth the Higgins/Barrit team is. Exciting news for sure and a great win for Misubishi!
Hearing Christians words really takes it to the source, and I have to agree regarding the hardware and the strength of the base Evo VIII. Makes me proud everytime I see those guys kicking-*** and taking names!!
This is also a nice reality-check reminder to all of the Evo VIII haters who have questioned the VIIIs ability as a viable rally car. Clearly with the right team of drivers/co-drivers the VIII is truly a capable rally champion at heart! Looking forward to great things in the future!

Hmmm... Christian, you guys are still using the same cars from the beginning of the season right?
If so, those are GrN 7s (with some additional mods, including more power and bigger restrictors I believe)... they just look like 8s because they modified the exterior features that change from the 7 to the 8 (hood, front bumper, spoiler, tail lights).
BTW, congrats to Mitsu, David and Dan... and go Lauchlin and Christian!!
Pablo.

Damnit, I wish this stuff had more coverage. I don't see **** cuz I don't have digital cable and I only get bare basic coverage from SCC and the occasional issue of RallyXS mag (too expensive to subscribe to). Congrats to both drivers and co-drivers. Hoping to see (though I see very little
) more good standings soon!
PS- Christian, I see you're from NYC so we're right in the same area. What events (if any) are within a reasonable driving distance from here that I could drag some people to spectate?

We appreciate all the support! Like the idea about the stickers, I will mention this to Mitsu.
In regards to T.V., you have to go to the website of Speed Channel, or there are some listings at http://rally.sandmansoftware.com/
see under Rally TV. Next show will be the Title clincher-Ojibwe, on Sept. 19th/20th/25th.
Hope to see you out in the woods!

The Maine Forest Rally (MFR) in Rumford, ME is usually held the last weekend in July or first weekend in August. Rumford is probably about an 8 hour drive from the City.
And thanks to everyone for the kind words. Lauchlin, see you tomorrow.
