Here in the northeast we have an Evo 8, Evo 9, and two Sti's in ST-2. Development is free with just a few factors besides the hp/weight ratio. To start you will need to attend a NASA racing school/event or have a prior racing license (SCCA BMWCCA ect) to apply for a NASA provisional license. Contact of cars is not tolerated and as such it's attracting well funded cars that enjoy a friendlier environment then pro series. Our sushi cars (as are competitors joke) have been prepared well and are near the front of the field every weekend. You need a good roll cage built, seat, extinguisher, Hans device ect... Then spend your first few races driving clean, checking the reliability and adjusting the set up of your car. It's really tough to run at this level solo, so a friend or two to crew for you is very important....Dave Fazzino #101 ST-2 Evolution 8

We are running 275/45/17 Hoosier R6 tires on 17x9.5 Enkie RPF1 wheels (part# 3797956518SP). Evo 8,9 fenders will need to be pulled and the rear quarters need a fair amount of work to fit, unless you have a wide body kit. Hoosier Tires awards 2 tires for 1st place and 1 tire for 2cd at each race. Slicks are allowed but come with a factor penalty. Check the NASA rule book for all the class particulars....Dave..

Ok sounds good, Now im already part of NASA and i have my national time trials license TT-S #261. So would that help. During time trials you are basically wheel to wheel, open passing and what not. And i have a fairly well set up car for time attack so i think the transition will be good.

Do think a Nitto NT01 would be competitive enough? Or will i need some thing more along the hoosiers?

thanks for the help, i can only hope the midwest will have a strong interest in this!

If you run in NASAs TT series, NASA has it set as such that you can make an easy transition with your setup from TT to PT/ST. If im not mistaken, ST2 is the equivalent to TTS, whereas ST1 is the equivalent to TTU. Check the rules to be certain, but im pretty sure of what i stated. Beyond that there is also PTA, and PTB for us.

I have considered making the jump, but im not certain yet. My issue is that i want to get into w2w racing, but i have not found a series that im dying to get into. And i dont want to get into w2w racing just to get into it. In Socal/Norcal, PTA from what i have seen is not competitive. ST on the other hand is sometimes competitive, but it varies. Based on that im not ready to commit to it yet. And if its like that, i might as well continue running TT. For now, i see it as such that why should i go w2w if its not competitive? I may change my mind later, but for now im not very partial to transitioning into PT/ST. So, i will probably wait and see how things unfold the next few months.

Hamflex - how goes it. I think the majority would agree that r-comps including the NT01 aren't going to put you on the podium in TTA, TTS, TTU, ST1 or ST2, etc.

As a current TT'er, I've been reading up on the ST series a bit as well. I'm personally not ready for the jump nor financial investment of w2w racing. Although I am thinking of attending comp school (NASA's competition school) in 2009 anyway just to get a possible comp license in case I change my mind mid year or to start 2010.
Possible TT rules/point changes will determine where I go in the nearterm.
