Hey, is that you, Ryan?? Nice to hear from you! Thanks, yeah I was smokin' hot out there at Summit. My best lap time was 1:24 !! Yes, my student sent me a PM that he found me on here. Glad to hear you can help him out. I don't think I'll be able to make the Nov. event, because of my brake issues. Not safe to go out there, especially the way I'm driving. I'll let you know on my Brembo's.
George

Edit: Here's car cam video from the Summit Point event.

Reid did really well ey? Took home two 1sts. Anyways, good to meet ya man. Look forward to helping you tune sometime in the future. Oh yeah, look into that FP Red.

Got some vid up btw: http://www.flatlinemotorsports.net/Video_Vault.html (4th vid down) Did you get any in-car?

edit: Your student's (black lancer w/ the 3065) SN here is MSP608. I'm going to help him switch back to a stock turbo here soon and fix up that tune.

You might want a front brake cooling duct before you spend a couple thousand on a BBK. I think forge motorsport offers one as well for the evos.

Nice driving in that Summit video. You're really consistent.

So, in the MA region, point by's are still required in HPDE4? Do you run with the TT'ers or are they in a separate group?

Just curious what tires you are on?

... thanks.

Point by's are required, but passing is permitted anywhere; even in the corners.
I was running on the last legs of my Nitto NT01's. They were just about done.
I will try TT's next spring.

Generally I do not get into the ABS on the track, since I'm mostly threshold braking, but sometimes I'm in the ABS.

I've considered a 2-piece rotor, but don't think it will help much with stopping power... maybe rotor life.

I do have a Forge Brake Duct cooling kit installed on the car.

I forgot to mention the brake kit should have 6-piston calipers.
Yea im not sure how drag racing fit into the discussion in your response, as most will make downgrades to enable a smaller wheel and larger tire... Besides the point and back on subject..

The forge kit really is not as nice as the AMS kit. I ran the forge kit, and the AMS kit comes with all the shrouds to actually enclose the rotor to ensure a great percentage of air flow goes in and around the rotor.

As far as the power issue, you stated you were increasing to 425 and absolutely needed more brake! Well I know the AMS TA-1 ran factory brembos for quite some time.

just curious, What brake lines do you use? And do you trail brake a lot. I have noticed increased trail braking will obviously increase my rotation, but end result is faded brakes much sooner!

oh almost forgot, have you considered using a different pad? I believe the pagid yellows are more of an endurance pad. try using an rs-14 or rs-15. Probably the rs-15 if you are on an R-comp or better.

big brake kit

George, I run with the instructor group also, and was at T-bolt on weds and Lightning on thurs . I think it was Andyboy I met and we were talking about a removeable rollbar to fit tires in the rear.
All I can say is that this the first car that I have NOT had brake problems with. I had an STI for 2 years and had huge problems with pad knockback. Anyway, I have the stock rotors and am pleased with Hawk Ht-10's in the front and hps in the rear. I'm assuming you've tried different pads...
Incidently my WH is the same as yours also and I'm told I am a late braker so I'm surprised with your problem.

Agreed ^

My set-up: stock calipers, Hawk blues, Stainless steel lines, ATE superblue, Factory cooling ducts, dust shield removed and stock rotors at the track........with no issues. (pad wear and rotor wear excluded)

(11+ years instructing + NASA TTS + a track record in TTS + many 1st place finish. Tracks include Grattan, Gingerman, Mid-Ohio, Beaverun, Mid-America, Waterford Hills, Road America, Putnam, VIR...ETC.............)

Everyone has a different driving style, you and I might run the same lap times.....but you might like the point , shoot and brake, which would create more heat........???????

Best racing advice ever........"It is not the fastest car that wins the race, it is the guy that touches the brakes the least"...............it works for me

ok you want a reasonably priced 6 piston bbk.this is going to take some time to do the research but will give you what you are looking for.in the uk the guys building awesome stis are running porsche 6 piston calipers.get on ebay you can usually find a set between 500 and 1000.00 after you get those just get on the evom site here and find the largest diameter 2 piece rotors you can fit behind whatever wheel you are running.you may have to get a local shop to machine you a bracket because the porsche caliper is probably not going to bolt right up.i believe you could have a huge 6 piston kit with different brand parts but the right combo for half the price of an average performing bbk.by the way i sold my 05 sti and got an 05 evo 8.the brakes on the sti were fade proof and would absolutely sling you through the windshield.i have been very disappointed with the brakes on my evo.i am running 2 piece slotted front rotors (stock diameter) slotted rear rotors goodridge lines hawk hp pads.almost the exact same combo on the sti (drilled rear rotors only difference) but nowhere near the same performance.good luck on your quest.by the way what i am suggesting is what i will be doing as soon as i get my turbo upgrade.

Im not sure why you want to change the brakes, run a 2pc rotor and good pads... the japanese TA cars seem to like the oem brakes but first maybe dont blame the brakes but look into why the line was cut
especially if it was an ss line

Maybe swap out RBF with SRF if need be, but otherwise it's a killer package and works amazing. I have a similar setup on my X also.
