EVO track times at Mid Ohio?

Just wondering what kind of track times other EVOs have run at Mid Ohio, either on the Club course or Pro course. I saw a video of John K driving AMS' TA1 car back in '06 and looks like he ran about a 1:38 on the Club course.

So what is the fastest EVO time to date???

Mid Ohio

We ran 1:31 on the full course in 2007(2.2Miles) in a Modified AWD Class 2003 EVO. Only change was to Hoosier A6 DOT tires. Won TTU that year at NASA Nationals. I am sure the current crop of EVO's are much faster now. I'd say in the mid to high 1:20's is possible. I think Ryan Gates ran Mid 1:30's a few years ago on a fairly stock EVO X at the time. He is much much quicker now.

Mid Ohio Track Time

I run 1:39 on the club course (with chicane). I have never run the Pro course.

I am just a DE driver right now but starting to get into Time trialing.

My car is still used as a daily driver, so if I stripped it and went with a larger turbo than stock I might turn some better times.

All in due time!

2008 My 3200lb Evo 8 ST-2 posted a high 1:37 (pro course) with 350whp on R6 275 Hoosiers. Going back in 2 weeks with a lighter better prepared Evolution for testing and Thunder races.

Got a friend that runs a TTB STi - 270whp & 3200lbs

He runs 1:44 on the club, 1:42 on the pro. He loves the course; I still haven't been!

You can check out the NASA track records here:

Thank you everyone for the input. I will be there in 2 weeks in HPDE3 on Friday, then off to the DSM/EVO Shootout for Saturday and Sunday. I did check out the NASA records - lots of new records set last weekend. . .

My car is now right around the TTS/TTU border as far as the WT/HP ratio. Trying to decide what I want to do for next year. I can either lose alot of weight or gain alot of power to maximize the car for TTU, or I can dial back the power just a tad and run TTS. For TTU I need to pick up about 5 seconds/lap to be near the top of the pack. . .

I think dropping 200 pounds and adding 100whp sounds like a WHOLE lot'o fun!!

We are in trouble! I just checked the NASA records and apparently Danny Popp is now running a Corvette in ST-2. The ST-2 record he just set last weekend is 1:31.4 on the pro course. I like to be optimistic but it will be the lap of my lifetime to equal that pace! At least there is no bull in NASA. That time is pro level driving. In 2008 he was running 1:29's in St-1

At ~3300 lbs competition weight you could have close to a 600 hp car in TTU...that's a pretty big leap. See you out there on Friday!

At 3151lbs you could do 606whp and be right on the TTU limit (tire dependent). My issue is being able to work up all the aero and actually have the nuts to drive something like that near the limit to get the tracktimes you'd need!

Ranging from 3150 - 3250 the TTS limits would be around 375-410whp depending on tire size. I'd say go that route, but I might go that route next year too so I don't wanna give anything away!!

Keep us posted. G/L guys.

His TTU record is a 1:26

I think he actually has alot left in ST-2. Last Saturday he ran a 1:32 on the club course, then a 1:31 on Sunday on the Pro course. It had rained that morning so the track didn't have as much grip as it did on Saturday. With a warm sticky track I wouldn't be surprised if he could hit the 1:30's on the Pro course in ST-2 trim . . . .

Looks like I'm going to have some very fast Vettes in TTS to compete against as well. Hope I can learn that track really quickly.

There will definately be some great racing going on that weekend!!

We ran 1.31 and so did Dieter at the Nationals, placing 2nd and 3rd. All three EVOs were in the 1.31's that year. Two unfamiliar drivers and then the winner with a lot of experience at Mid Ohio. I'd guess the Magnum was capable of a high 1.29 with Danny P. in it! That guy is a bad ***!
