practically, the flash is same as selecting a map on KAPS ACD controller. But KAPS unit will give you "on the fly" map swaps, 9 base maps, and fine tune options for those.. unlimited adjustment range from open diff to locked any second you want. If you are a track guru, you will find yourself running different maps for different tracks.
This is a really expensive unit.. We are working on a better US pricing..
this is what KAPS told us; retail price is 1450 Euros (about $1940)
We went through pricing a few months ago now for the ACD computer and at the moment the price will remain. The xchange rate has moved the wrong way for our company by 25% over the last few years and at the same time we have reduced prices of our products.
In terms of an aftermarket rear LSD upgrade, if you find it works better, then the car will have better handling and the ACD will calculate the correct diff lock based on the parameter changes in the vehicle.
For 1 second or so per lap, think about what additional changes you need to make on the car to attain this. Aerodynamics? bigger tyres? Bigger turbo? All work out to be more expensive then the computer in the end.
