So my car has illegal motor mounts on it right now - aluminum or something. Anything worth it in the aftermarket or should I just get stock ones?

You should be ok as long as it doesn't have more metal, i.e. solid mount than the o.e. one. I have an lower front mount which is very similar to the o.e. one hopefully no one squawks about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's only illegal if it's metal-to-metal. If there's any rubber in the bushings that absorbs the vibrations I think you're fine.

They were described to me as "solid aluminum engine mounts".

So I haven't gotten under the car to check em out yet, but they do vibrate quite a bit at idle.
In Subaru land, the harder rubber ones (Grp N bits) were pretty popular - just wondering if there is an equivalent here.

Engine mounts may be replaced, but must attach in the factory
location(s) without additional modification or changes. Engine position may not be changed. The volume of metal in a replacement
mount may not be increased relative to the volume of metal found
in a stock mount for the particular application. Solid metal mounts
are specifically prohibited.

For me anyway, they were really harsh on day one, then over the next few weeks they got broken in a bit. Still noticeably stiffer than stock, but minimal added vibration now.
Anyone even interested in the New Hankook RS-3 in the 245/40 size? looks to be about $25-30 per tire less than the standard Z1, but was curious if any of the west coast guys have their hands on a set and/or plan to test them. Thanks.

I'm definitely interested, but since I'm starting from scratch I'm probably just gonna run the proven stuff this year (Z1, AD08). They're appealing for co-driven cars for sure.
I probably won't use them until late March, just to get an event on them before the SD tour. Handful of national champions and plenty of other good drivers out here for comparison.
