How much of a different do these cooling lines make? It would seem that with the roughness of the hose and the multiple kinks that losses would be pretty significant and getting a significant amount of air through the hose without a fan forcing it through would be very difficult. (Serious question, just looking for input based on experience. I heat-cracked my rotors once at a track day so I'm curious).

Hold the end of a 10' section of the tubing out the window and blow it back at your face after twisting it around in the front seat. I bet it has quite a bit of airflow!

There are pics scattered in some other threads of different approaches to this issue. Please post any pics/info in this thread you would care to provide.

I am particularly interested in NACA ducts. Saw some pics where a Subie guy installed them in the undertray. How well does this work?

Or use the search function and post in the threads already available.

I'm looking to run a brake duct kit this year and right now my only concern is where to mount the inlets on the bumper. I have an Evo 8 with an ETS intercooler taking up the entire center section. What I see almost everyone do is zip tie the ducts to the bumper mesh in the side bumper openings. However, my bumper has neither the mesh nor the tabs required to mount the mesh. So, that leaves me with a big gaping hole and no way to mount the ducts. What I'm thinking I might want to do is buy a duct like this:

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/p...39/Naca_Ducts2

And drill it and my bumper and zip tie them up. This could get incredibly ugly so the first step I think will be measuring that bumper opening to see what I'm working with.

I'm completely open to suggestions.

^ That's what I'm running on my car, using an Evo VIII bumper.

If you look closely you can see them stuffed in from the back side. I did do quite a bit of trimming of things to get them to fit more square to the bumper, and I don't have an oil cooler or ACD pump sitting in the fenderwells anymore, so this may or may not work in your application.

I was about to say, I don't want to block off the entire opening with a brake duct because I still have the oil cooler that needs air as well (no ACD, though). Hmm, maybe a smaller duct like this in the corner of the opening:

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/p...44/Naca_Ducts2

That would keep the rest open to flow to the oil cooler while giving me at least 2 mounting points.

I have a set of those too. Didn't end up using them as we welded on a 3" metal adapter to the AMS duct kit so I could run 3" piping all the way back. LMK if you're interested in 'em, could probably get them boxed up in the next day or two.

Porsche Cayenne's have a nice aluminum NACA duct that is attached to the plastic underbody panel to cool the trans and diff. Everytime a car comes in with a damaged panel and the customer buys a new one I drill out the NACA duct. I'm in the process of making a front spilter/undertray that I will incorporate these ducts into. It's a slow process but I will post pictures of the final product.

My new 3" helicopter tube. Super flexible and heat resistant.

Kidloco, any pics of the bumper with ducting on the? Would like to see how they route to the brakes if possible. Love the innovation going on in these brake ducts threads...looks like I have a project for spring time
