How NOT to Run an Autocross Event!!
For what it's worth, the autocross setup is dictated by some lines drawn on the parking lot, presumably by the Speedway. The groups that actually run events here probably cannot even change the course layout.
Rob,
I left out one crucial detail in my critique of this course. It costs $90 for 10-14 runs of under 40 seconds. I simply have higher expectations for that amount of money and I think others should too.

Around here the hill climb cost $150 and you racing TWO days with a lots of miles

The fun is non comparable to auto X or even HPDE TA track days.
Circuit racing cost around here $300 but same thing it is much better then autox and more fun
Not to mention the fact you WILL learn a lot more there.
Since you did racing couple of times there i think you might like to look into those.

Fyi, this was NOT a SCCA solo event, where there are strict course layout rules. Also a licensed safety steward has to approve the course for competition.
The AX event at that particular small lot, I believe is usually an adjunct to the organizer's track day. Probably since they already have to pay for whole facility. Mostly new people wanting to get a taste of HP driving.
Supergo, you should look into the big LA region SCCA AXs in the large lot outside the speedway. Much longer, faster and safer courses, with available instruction. Cost is $30 for 4 runs, or $55 for 8 runs. Also events are held at El Toro in a few months. Look me up for help. Solo2.com for details.

8 runs a day on a 70+ second course with BMW CCA Boston for $40 and this is how the course looks. Wide open, no obstacles, lots of fun!

TBH, I suck at autocross (I only started going to them last year and haven't been in a few months) and that curb would probably freak me out just a bit, even at the distance away that it is.
Noted. Definitely need to find some new places/venues to drive.
if i were you i would look around some hill climb events or something on track

..
That guy ****ed it up end of story. Has nothing to do with design - gravel - cold slicks etc. That is all PART of the RACING!
You should negotiate with the elements thorough your run and finish. If you crash there is NOBODY to blame but yourself, simple is that.
Geeez

90 buxs is crazy. here the SCCA club runs usually 30 and thats if your not an SCCA member. if you are it's usually 25 and u usually can find and save money by going to myautoevents.com and pre-registering. (i suck at spelling). but around here u usually get 6 runs for the cost and then after that there usually is time for a few fun runs. not to mention lots of help from experienced people and more challenging courses.
if the OP's course was not an SCCA course event then that explains a lot. Safety stewarts (like someone said about them approving all courses) are very good about making the course safe and fun.

Take Rick's advice. You may not get as many runs as you're used to, but they'll likely be more exciting.
