if these engines make 750 hp, so 15hp is 2%. two percent advantage in weight is much better than 2% advantage in power. weight advantage improves acceleration, cornering and braking. power advantage only improves acceleration.
if you do the math, the reduce power and reduce weight comes out to the same power to weight ratio for both scenario.

If U R right, I wonder if that equality in performance is the reason the FIA has not penalized Merc based teams bc of higher hp or they feel these differences R fair?...for I am sure Renault could get another 15hp out of their engine if they wanted to and yet they don't...and reason is to just run at a lower weight and possibly more fuel efficient?

Focusing on the very end of the grid
Another nail in the coffin: http://www.pitpass.com/45577-New-HRT...st-until-March ...the end is not far away!

But as a third person it was funny and a very good study about having a loose belt without hans.
I NO these times really mean nothing but don't B so quick to say the Ferrari "snow plow" ain't fast: http://www.crash.net/f1/news/176683/..._at_jerez.html ...Also, Merc has still not pulled down their pants yet so it leads one to believe they don't want to show anything until the last minute.

2012 Exhausts: Addendum
Newey and others ( I say "others" bc I can't recall) questioned the exhaust designs on Ferrari and McLaren and questioned its legality. Well, Whiting has come forward and had a look...legal: http://www.planetf1.com/news/3213/75...eclared-Legal- . The question is how long will it B so designated?...Answer: until all the teams have come up with similar designs and spent the $$ implimentating....thereafter it will B declared illegal.

Funny, because there's a great chance it'll play out that way. Wish they'd put stuff like that in writing and make it an official/confirmed/verified/steadfast ruling, so they wouldn't even have the ability to take it back later, and make whatever they previously ruled on as legal now illegal.
Thought I'd share a neat trick I just learned from another forum. formula1.com has a lot of cool pics but they're really small, right? Here's the trick.

Enjoy high res that Bernie doesn't want you to have.

Merc...still behind the curtain
There R three teams that have not tested or actualy revealed their cars in Jerez: Marussia, HRT and Merc. The first two R irrelevant but the last of these has some going done the paranoid road as opposed to,"They R behind in the developement of their car". For the former, this from Newey: "I assume that they want to hide something from the competition,". However, it appears that he has come up with a rational that avails his concern:"...It must be something that can be copied quite quickly, otherwise they wouldn't try so hard to keep it secret." If Newey is correct, then it is unclear for the neccessity of secrecy unless one week of redesign would make it difficult for the others to catch/copy them by Melbourne.
