I hope not, those were the ugliest sidepods I've ever seen

McLaren seemed to be copying the 2009 Brawn design, albeit in a much uglier way. Of course, the McLaren will never rival the last Honda F1 car. That was the height of ugliness...

I bet he was referring to all of the goofy looking winglets. It was getting just about as ridiculous as Rado's ginormous wing on the front of his FWD Time Attack car.

I remember it had the viking horns on the airbox cover like the McLaren used to have, other than that, I don't remember. I'll have to google it.

The first ones pictured there they only ever tested with. I remember they weren't allowed to race with them due to concerns over drivers line of sight.

I believe you're right about that. One of the best rules ever was the following year when they banned all of the ridiculous winglets.

Okay, here are a couple of pictures of Honda F1 car:

RA107 with hideous whatevers over the sidepods-

And just when you thought the car could not get any uglier, along came the RA108 with a nose only a designer could love-

More on Lotus Design: Rotating Calipers

Pitpass has an excellent explanation/description of what Lotus has designed to increase downforce through braking by lowering the car further than last year: http://www.pitpass.com/45483-Reactiv...012s-big-thing
What is interesting here is while the FIA has approved this approach the end of last year, there may still B a question of legality regarding moveable parts...as they point out, this innovation is similar to double diffuser a la Brawn two years ago...as a result, the others must follow now and not wait.

Later, Ken

Ferrari is making no bones about trying to woo Adrian Newey away from Red Bull. Want to place any bets on both Newey and Vettel moving to Ferrari in 2014? http://en.espnf1.com/ferrari/motorsp...ory/67981.html
