It just doesn't add up for me, other than Lewis looking to increase his "image", its definitely a step down...
You may be right. That blog link that Ken had seemed to indicate that Lewis was more interested in the "brand" than anything else. Now is the time to capitalize on his image it would seem. His management company certainly will benefit from this. And, I do agree that he has shown a lot of immaturity. Still, I feel there was some kind of enticement from Mercedes that finally caused him to go to a team that is still unproven.

I agree with Velocity. An engine isn't going to create that much of a difference in performance that they are going to start winning all the sudden, it takes a lot more than power to be fast in F1. While I do think Brawn has put together a strong technical team to go forward, I still think he's going to regret leaving McLaren.
I think his move has more to do with his management team and his image/branding than anything. Merc can bring all that, different than McLaren can. What I don't think they can bring his is a championship winning car, at least not next year. We'll see what happens...

Lewis has to know that this decision will basically decide his future. I can see where promoting himself while he is highly marketable is a good business decision, but I also feel that he is still a fierce competitor who wants to win, not just races, but championships. So, given the pathetic performance of the Mercedes and the strength of the McLaren team, something had to be an enticement to him. If not the engine, then something revolutionary in the chassis or the depth of the team.

The Weasel now says that the V6 turbo plan for 2014 should either be delayed or abandoned. And, he claims that Jean Todt will back him up with the FIA supported the delay/abandonment. Burnme says that after hearing the Ferrari turbo V6, both he and Luca said that the engine sounded terrible. Don't you love the wacky world of F1?

As evo owners shouldn't we root for 4 cylinder turbos? Lol Sound is a HUGE part of the experience. My ex never understood how a sound of a certain car coud bring tears to my eyes as quickly as the National Anthem. Maybe I'm odd, but it is what is is. So whatever sounds good I am all for.

As far as Hamilton. I have only been really into F1 for a few seasons and could see he was in it for the cash and fame pretty quickly. He is no Vettel. Not even close. Not only is Vettel a more down to earth guy, he would probably school Lewis on the history of F1. Which is what drew me to Vettel, well I liked the finger as well. The fact that Hamilton's Cocky, poor attitude behind just ruined his career makes me . But hey, I guess to some it's better to retire a rich man than a winner...

It's going to be great seeing Perez and Button driving by Hamilton..

If you haven't been into F1 that long (by your own admission), how do you know he is cocky? What has he done to display poor attitude? Please feel free to give examples ...

Fyi, Hamilton is the same driver that out drove Alonso when they were both driving for Mclaren and Alonso was the 2 time world champ.

How is Vettel giving the finger not considered cocky? Or Vettel blaming drivers in slower cars for accidents (Karthekeyan) when he bumped into them? Or Vettel nearly taking out his own team mate (Webber @ Turkey) a few years ago but destroying his own car in the process when he shouldn't have tried to pass at that part of the track? And them blaming his team mate ... Am I the only person that remembers this crap?

Sorry but I'm a little confused.

Schumi is bye bye (http://www.crash.net/f1/news/184643/...cond_time.html)...that ends some of the speculation over who will fill Sauber seat...as to causes for his retirement, Merc officials have blaimed themselves for not supplying a really competitive car (Brawn...sweating heavily)...However, it could B said that Schumi is also to blame...that Singapore rear ender was the signature closer for him...there is a time to stay and a time to go...now it is time...IMHO he should have never come back...instead, rested on his laurels...now he has past record but also his return stint for all to remember.

Later, Ken

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Blah, blah, blah. Second guessing as to whether or not Schumi should have come out of retirement is not something any of us is qualified to say. A lot of his performance has been tied to the poor performing Mercedes chassis. Had he been with Red Bull or McLaren, his results might have been far different. Tire differences and changes in car design also made it difficult for him to adapt. We have seen Massa struggle and even Kimi to a certain extent. I for one am glad that Schumi tried to come back a second time. While he did not get the results he was hoping for, he brought energy and excitement to the sport. Really no surprise about him not going to Sauber. Why go to chopped beef when you can go to filet mignon?

Red Bull back on form it would seem. Really hoping Seb gets a win and tightens up the championship.
