Ya in that case, for sure. I'm more inclined to have the better eq then to worry about/knowing i'm gonna have to swap at the track with a failure like that. On another note Had a DE3 guy at Sebring in March rip the legs of his 2 piece off on the driver right, which locked up the left and sent him into the wall...gently.

Years back I ran a few sets of OE Centric blanks. They worked fine, but I was also on street tires and ran a lot slower times. I'm not curious enough to try those again considering the higher power and limits I push!
At the end of the day, rotors are a wear item - keep that in mind. And those that run at 10/10's use wear items up a lot quicker than those running at 7/10's; even if that latter run twice as long of stints. Nothing is apples to apples.

I ran a set of Girodisc 2-piece and they did NOT last as long as the 1 piece Powerslots I normally use. I did a writeup here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mo...t-1-piece.html.
Everything was pretty similar, expect the Girodisc 2-piece cost triple to start with, then double for replacements.

Having said all that, I just ordered a set of DBA 4000's. We'll see how they do. Slotted and directionally veined as well, so options and pricing right on with the Powerslots.

that's one of the reason why it scares me to run two piece rotors. when they fail, they fail spectacularly.

Some updates from the past few weeks...

Mostly maintenance. Changed oil on the tow truck and the Evo. Also changed the Trans and ACD on the Evo, and plan to get to the rear diff if/when time allows.

I picked up a new set of front rotors. I went with some DBA's this time so we'll see how they fare. More on those once I get them installed. For now I pulled out a used RF to put on the car to match the brand I had - trying to use up existing spares as I have them laying around and all.

Also at work - attempting some new brake ducting ingenuity! Key word is attempt!
I've been running 2" ducting hose in the bumper holes which is extremely tight on a IX with an aftermarket intercooler setup. I bought some NACA ducts and 2.5" ducting and need to find a way to effectively position these in order to get increased airflow to cool the brakes for an entire 30-40 minute race.

I've had a few ideas, but nothing definite that'll work yet. I think I have room to run one on the driver side in the mesh of the bumper; so minimal hacking! The passenger side is the worst; always has been with the oil cooler needing as much air as it can get. I've pulled off the headlights to see if there's room, but there's not much with a pulley just to the right. I really don't want to cut into the bottom of the bumper, but that might be my only choice. If I do cut into it, I'll be using Jim's idea as something to copy (w/o the epoxy though): https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mo...-solution.html

I'm wanting to keep the car TTA/PTA legal, which means I have to use the OEM bumper and cannot add any additional aero right now.

I also bolted the front crash beam back on. It's the only spot I have a front tow hook currently which is needed for the racegroups; and I'm underweight as it is. I know need a different tow hook setup so I can try to reduce weight on the frontend - just not a priority right now.

Back in 2010 I think it was - yes. I pulled it off at that same event after boiling my fluid and have never looked back since. I later sold it. I still have no idea what the deal was. Perhaps I sandwiched one of my ducts or something; I've really no idea.

I did run with an APR front splitter for 3 events in 2011 w/o issue. It more or less mounts in the same way too; directly to the OEM bumper.

I actually signed up late last night after finding out that I have the weekend open. It's not my favorite track but like usual the event fits my schedule. So I'm about 80% sure I'm going - and I'll be in the racegroup only.

I need to route my new brake ducts and see how the car works a set of tires over the course of an entire race and Gingerman is a pretty decent track for that. I heard that it's the newer long config on Sat; open for vote on Sunday.

Is there any Evo IX out there with an OEM bumper and aftermarket fmic - with a brake duct solution that doesn't involve a splitter? If so, lemme know ASAP.

I'm back to staring at the front of the car and just hoping for a solution. I was going to hack up the bumper at the bottom, but there's just no room to route on the passenger side with the oil cooler and the LICP. And there's no way I'm stealing air from the oil cooler.
I've got the headlights out again and I really don't see a viable solution to run even a 2.5" duct down from there.

It looks to me that once you remove the headlight there is plenty of room to run a 2" or 2.5" hose. It would go near the outside, down under/beside the radiator overflow and the ACD rezzie. Then put in headlight blanks with large ducts that taper down to 2".

That's an option I think - yes. It'll have a pretty significant bend downward like you mention. While it's not ideal, it's nor horrible either.

The crappy part is I don't have headlight delete's here and the only setup I could find quickly online was some Seibon carbon fiber ones at around $300 that I'd have to then hack up.

It's an option - but not for this weekend.

^there is a thread in the how to section on how to use the duct hole at the bottom of the c west replica front bumper to feed air to the brakes using ducting, and the bumper is fairly cheap and would be a good solution for a track bumper that could be used to take abuse

you're missing the point...he has to accomplish routing the ducts using the stock bumper in order to not take any additional modification points for the class.
