Doorbars getting going. With an open trailer, I chose to keep my power windows IN the car.

More pics of the doorbars. Any overall, I think this thing is close to done!

Looks like Nascar door bars didn't happen. I think that was the better choice IMO. I also like that you put in the extra A pillar bar. I think this really adds alot more rollover protection.

It looks like it close to done. Are they painting it or are you?

Yeah, I told him to put in Nascar bars if he could, but this looks pretty good too. He said we had to relocate a few wires in the door as it's so close. So I should be good.

It's being painted Satin black. Some of it's already done (upper). And yeah, it looks pretty much done. Window net is there, fire system needs put in and then things put back together!

Extra 'A bar' seemed pretty smart I thought too. That's pretty much the weakest potential point for rollovers, and all Rally cages require it. Here's a good view of where that's positioned, as my only concern was it restricting view. Doesn't seem to be an issue though.

Something to think about doing at this point if you havn't done so yet. Drill the holes in the firewall for your fire system and battery shutoff. It looks as if those red wires on top of the dash bar might be for the shutoff? If not then route some wire thru there. The fire system goes nicely if you route in thru the passenger side firewall.

I also had the same worry about vision with that bar. It ended up being no problem at all.

If you have any question about hooking any of that stuff up just let me kno. I've already gone thru the hassle of finding out how the hell to do it.

Good suggestion. I'm having Izzy's do it all. They're a certified NASA Tech Center too; so I'll be teched and ready (lol; already 2012 TT Tech'd) when I leave the shop.

I think everything's done. The new belts are in, the seat back in, the fire suppression system in, the cage looks painted... It'll be picked up tomorrow and taken to the track. On-track Sat/Sun! And next weekend!

The estimate before we started was 140-150 lbs. I'm not sure where it ended up as I haven't had it weighed yet.

Final pics. I'll pick the car after work, then straight to the track for the weekend!

Here's how the custom jack rails turned out:

Looks good. Stop at a skateboard shop on your way and pick up some "deck tape" for the floor. It will really help if its wet. Even just getting in and out of the car with a slippery metal floor is not very easy.

Are you doing a driver school this weekend?

Not a bad idea.

Yep, COMP school this weekend for me. The classroom stuff is tonight 6:30 - 8pm. The on-track exercises are tomorrow. Sunday is a double-race day too!

If i had the choice, id rather have my kill switch and whatever else mounted somewhere around the center of my dash, which is where mine is. If you ever end up sideways into a wall and youre knocked out, safety personnel/corner workers may have to crawl into your car from the passenger side to reach it. But if you mount it somewhere towards the center part of your dash, not only will it be easily accessible for you, but also for anyone else because theyll be able to reach in from either side of your car without having to completely get in.
