Tom,
Out west the Evos have a tough time over the C4s, with all national drivers the best and well driven Evo came in 3rd last weekend in the AZ tour, in the rain!
You should really try the Ft Myers Tour coming up in your state to see how good the competion is. 2 days of fun.

I think everyone running an EVO or STI in ESP should run this image

Forgive my ignorance, but in stock form she's still in AS, yes?

I didn't realize Andy Hollis was on the SEB. He runs locally with our Spokes AutoX group in Austin. He and his wife also teach at Evolution School and were my instructors last summer. They both seemed to really like the car, so maybe he was gunning for the Evo to stay in ESP.

Here in Houston most of us have jumped to SM. None of us are national level drivers and SM is so much more interesting than the AS and ESP. Here AS is fairly competative, except it is usually only between a few cars. ESP only has 2 non EVO cars that are competative. SM is a much larger class with a broad range of competition, and allows us to not worry about what we choose to do to our cars.

I understand this issue for the few of you planning on National Events, Pro-solo, and perhaps nationals itself, but for locals, I recommend you just play with the car how you want, and not hold up too much with what class you are in. There are no rules saying you have to be AS with a stock car too. Try out all the classes then decide where you want to race (before doing any mods). In my car I run SM totally stock, and am still fairly competative.

It will stay in ESP for ProSolo for the year, but could be moved out of ESP for "normal" solo depending on the SEB's monitoring of the results for the year. Interesting ruling. Hopefully some National level drivers will come out to play in EVO's so the argument can be put to rest by June.

I am surprised by the decision still. SEB made the right call.

We won the battle but not the war yet (corny, I know).

Doug Gill wrote it is not near from over except for the evo staying in Pro Solo ESP for 2004. The SEB is monitoring results until the June-12 month period, then they may pulish a proposal for member comment to move it in 2005.

Sooo... what that means is that if an Evo does well before June they may instantly kick it out of ESP. And if not, after June we're in the same boat as now and they may reconcider moving it for 2005. So it may take a long time to really have it set in an SP class.

But at least we're still in ESP for now
