NASA TT rules question
NASA TT rules question
Hey guys,
I have been a track day enthusiast but now I want to compete. Looking at the NASA TT rule book it says that an 03-05 Evo add 14 pts to start, below that it says Forced induction +5. Does this mean an Evo starts with +19? Or do you not have to add the +5?
For Non BTM fuel stuff it says +2 fuel pump, injectors etc...do you add only +2 for all of them or +2 for each part?
Adding the +19 and only +2 once for fuel stuff, my car adds up to 67 points. Does this put me in TTS? If it does looks like I am going to have a heck of a time trying to be competitive with the experienced guys. HELP!

Ive been looking in to this too, but I feel that I would be in at least TTS if not TTU. With a 2.3 fp red and all the supporting mods, let alone chassis and suspension stuff. Also for diffs if I have modded the rear diff with a 12 plate and added a wave trac to the front I believe I have to add points for both of those as well, Right?
Ouch...yes I do have that many points, and with just a set of Star Specs to boot, also not including weight reduction points as I don't know the cars weight yet with the safety gear. I will know that in a few weeks as I accumulate everything and its installed. I could ditch the stand alone that is worth 10 pts, but that would make baby jesus cry. Stupid RTA not existing, screwing up my plans, putting my car in a class I am not fast enough for!! I HATE GOING BACKWARDS! Well someone has to be last I suppose.
So what do I do now? Actually I am probably in TTU but I already planned to dial down the boost a bit to stay in the adjusted HP/Weight ratio for TTS/TTA. Do I get creative at taking points off the car or keep going and get my butt whooped? The TTA guys prob be a lot faster then me as well, since they more then likely planned out their points. Ugh, I just want to play!! There needs to be point deductions for noobs!!

Just remember guys, once you have accumulated enough modification points that you are no longer elligible for TTA, you are then bumped into TTS, TTU or TTR.
TTS/U/R are classified differently and are more of an unlimited class as far as modifications go, but you are limited by the adjusted weight/power calcuation.
It makes it much easier for determining class and being able to keep the car legal, but it often becomes a money spending war in these classes. Many of the top contenders will show up with 1-2 new sets of sticker tires to burn each weekend.

I find this funny because this is my street DD car my track car is already TTR. I built the evo to be able to drive to the track have fun and come home with out the need of my trailer and tow vehicle since my wife drives the tow vehicle as her dd.

Mine was a DD up until last year, when I didn't want to drive it in the snow anymore. Kind of funny to drive your TTU car to the track, no stickers all over it, no fancy paint job and a license plate, "so where do I park? and I need a sticker pack for a TTU car..."There is always the option of sticking with HPDE to get play time and not have to worry about points, but sometimes competition makes it more fun. We could definately use more Evo's competing in TT in the Midwest/Great Lakes Regions. Just remember that you have to work your way through the HPDE levels before being able to run TT if you haven't already done so.
I do know those guys in the upper classes have too much $$ behind them, can points put you into TTU/TTR or is that just based on adjusted power/weight after your point bumped into TTS?

You add the points per the entire line. Not each item in that line.

There is more cant think of everything, but that stuff doesn't add points.
So yea I am pretty well into TTS, and yes I WAS planning on a PTE6267 at some point, in case your looking at the mod list like this car was getting setup for TTU.

Tuned by Mitch@AMS for Road Racing, 24psi on 93oct, Mustang Dyno 400whp/367tq ~ 440whp dyno jet. So I guess I will run a 245 hoosier and curve the boost to keep my adjust HP/Weight in TTS, depending on where my weight ends up being after 4pt roll bar, seat, 6pt harness, steering wheel, fire extinguisher, tow hook...all going in mid next month. If I am going to be in TTS I will pick up the DHP Composites aero stuff before I get through my HPDE events as well as some AP brake calipers. ;-) This racing thing Im addicted to costs a lot of $$$, good thing I don't have kids!
