I got a chance to run some fresh R1S's yesterday. I'm sold on these over the A6's. I don't have any back to back testing but just going be feel, they are great!

285/30 on a 10.5 rim. a LOT of massaging and it will rub slightly if you have a passenger and go over a rough transition mid corner

Thanks. The 275 R1-S on a 9.5 wheels look just about the same as what you are showing with your setup.

The 265's on a 10" wheel look stretched slightly, around 11" though with tape measure.

What's your wheel spec on the rear? I see you have a fair amount of pull.

I am running 18x9.5 with +35 offset, running on Kumho V710, but no pull at all, just a roll at the back. I don't believe the A6 in 285 is wider than the V710.
I could run the 285 A6s and I just have rolled rears. The hoosiers are wider than the V710s I believe and the R1-S are even wider than the hoosiers.

So...I was just thinking about the fact that BFG doesn't have a competition rain tire. Anyone else thought about this in terms of getting contingency if it rains?

yes.

bend over and take it. not much different than hoosier considering the kumho wet is the wet tire to have.

I was just looking on Tire Rack to see if any of the BFG street tires would be a decent rain tire. Most of them are questionable at best.

Oh thanks, I hadn't even thought to look there.

Edit: Doesn't look like it's there for SCCA Solo

Marshall, so I take it you guys are going to run either Hoosier H2Os or W710s?

Lose on the proper tire and get nothing or win on the wrong tire and get nothing... Im guessing the direction is obvious .

Of course you could enter into a gentleman's agreement and everyone run slick in standing water.. that works out well.

That was the driest and fastest run by seconds.. Angry tour.

unless bfg comes out with something decent in the rain, yep. Dallas pretty much nailed it. Winning free tires is nice, but you still have to win.
