Thoughts on running different brake pads front and rear?
I recall hearing that some people have run grippier rear brake pads on RS models due to no ABS (the pads in this specific conversation were Hawk HPS in front, Hawk HP+ in rear on a 9 RS used for autocross). I've also heard some local autocrossers with S2000's do the same. I believe the reason for both was to prevent the fronts from locking up so easily.
I have an MR with ABS but I'm wondering if grippier rear brake pads would help with rear rotation under braking, help prevent locking up the fronts, or any other benefits.
I also ask because logic would seem to say that grippier front pads would be the best route, especially given the front-heavy weight distribution of the Evo.

I've never ran more aggressive in the rear, but a few times where I ran the same compound front and rear, the car felt very unsettled under hard braking. Its a bit of a scary feeling, and I've tried it a few times to assure myself its the pads doing that.

Different compound front to rear is very common on the Evo.
Never heard of anyone using a more aggressive pad in the rear over the front, should be the other way around. More aggressive up front.

I used this technique on my C6Z06 because the stock brakes were ridiculously over-biased to the front. Now that I have the front brakes where I like them. I have been thinking about trying a more aggressive pad in the rear to aid wtih trail braking.
Honestly, HP+ are not enough for an EVO on R-comps. You will need a more aggressive pad. Street tires are another story and I can't tell you what to use for those.

IIRC stock evo has a 60/40 brake bias, so you would probably not want to run a more aggressive pad in the rear. I found that I could not get my rear pads heated up enough to bite at the track, so I had to step down to a less aggressive pad during some testing:

IMHO Track cars need both front and rears to be better than HPS and HP+
