He's got the 17x10 +38 RPF-1s, not the 18x10 +38.

The curvature of the trailing arm leaves slightly less clearance for a 17" wheel than an 18" wheel.

EDIT: I guess I should have read the whole thread before responding, because everyone already covered this topic.

Oh well. I'll build trailing arms and then I won't have to run the 3mm spacer and the 275's will really fit just fine. I might end up trying 275/40/17 nt01's instead of the 275/35 maxxis.
Now that you mention it, maybe that is the part that was rubbing. It's been a while, so I'll have to go look LOL

Good thing the wheel is apparently a lot harder than the arm. Could have easily had a wheel failure if it was the other way around judging by the groove in the arm..

My cleArance to the arm is tight but the wheel shows no signs of a consistent rub.

Those photos might be deceiving but the wheel doesn't look that close to the arm. How are you getting that much deflection???

Here is the clearance on my 10 with 18x10.5 +27 and 275 NT01's and I have zero contact after a couple track days with this setup:

I have no idea. I have the trailing arm bushing replaced, and the whiteline bumpsteer correction kit (poly bushing for the chassis side of the toe-link pivot). Car only has 44k miles, all the other OEM bushings/bearings and balljoints look fine. I ordered ball joints and sleeves to make arms. Not super comfortable with the stockers having that groove in them.

I also cant get my middle finger between the wheel and the arm. And I don't exactly have fat fingers. It's tight in there.

Does it do it on both sides? Are you sure something didn't just get caught inbetween at some point?

Both sides did it, in the exact same spot.

Okay, how much clearance are we talking about here? 5mm, 10mm?

If it's that much and rubbing like that there has to be something deflecting big time. Bearings?

Wheel bearings are tight, can't shake them by hand. I'd have to actually get under the car again and measure clearance.

Of course, this clearance is at droop. Depending on the bump steer curve of the rear suspension, the clearance could get tighter or looser at right height, and with suspension compression.

I'll try to remember to get measurements and pictures tonight also, though I'm on jack stands. My rear wheels tuck a bit under hard, tight turns. So, I'd assume we get toe in and it is exacerbating the problem?

Remember earlier he's on 17's which cause this Vs 18's that move the rim out more towards the curve in the ar.

Razorlab has a X. I think he was pointing out that his clearance is similarly tight as mine is, but he doesn't get the deflection I do, thus no rubbing..
