Fixed Back Seat Brackets/Sliders
Fixed Back Seat Brackets/Sliders
I made a thread in General, but maybe it's better suited in here. I bought a Cobra Suzuka Seat, and am also going to buy a Cobra Monaco for the passenger side.
Now I'm determining the most cost effective seat brackets/sliders to purchase, and I'd like to buy them this week to install next weekend.
I know Buddy Club is the cheapest, at $160 total. I've also gotten a few quotes of around $230-250 per seat for the brackets and sliders, but most of those are special order and might take weeks, which is bad.
I've read on here multiple horror stories about Sparco, so I think I'll stay away from them.
So any other insight or advice from people who have been through this already? In Brooklyn I don't have access to much in terms of doing my own fab work, so that's why I'd like a straight forward installation.

The buddy club sliders are not only the cheapest but also the lightest I could find. Unfortunately they're crappy. I've had to 'rebuild' them multiple times because the locking tabs get bent or otherwise stop engaging allowing the seat to slide around while driving and i think at this point all of the ball bearings have fallen out so it doesn't exactly slide smoothly anymore. ...but they are very light and cheap.
I had some sparco sliders before i got the buddy clubs. never had any issues with the slider mechanism but the mounting bracket weighs a ton and i had to weld it back together a couple times after various parts cracked/broke off.
on the passenger side i just use some binary seat lowering brackets with some non-sliding side mount brackets. by far the lightest, cheapest, least hassle option.

well, I decided to go with planted brackets & mounts, no sliders for now. Seem like excellent build quality.

I know several guys who use Buddy club sliders for years with no issues. I just bought one my self for the passenger side. I will post up if mine turns to junk but for now I have a hard time believing yours fell apart when these guys used theres daily.
Mark me interested too. After trying seats at HMS, I'll be going with a Cobra Suzuka GT. If I have to do the passenger seat too, it'll probably be the Cobra Imola GT. They recommended the Planted mounts as well. For sliders, they suggested the Recaro without tabs. Not a cheap setup though. We'll see after tax season...

$105.

Seems reasonable to me.

Yep, that's the same price they quoted me. I meant overall cost for the whole setup.
Sliders $105
Planted bracket $140
Cobra side mounts $80
So $325 per seat for mounting. If it's quality product, for safety, I'll pay it.

Looks like this is true with most seats though?
So, not trying to thread jack...but I found a good deal locally on a lightly used Sparco Fighter seat. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger, but I am concerned about mounting the thing. I believe that this is a bottom mount seat, so does that mean it will sit high? I don't really care about using sliders, but will if I have to.
Any comments? I know they are not FIA rated, but this is just to get me through my hpde days without sliding all over the place and bruising my knees and elbows....which is currenlty the case with the stock seats.

I was considering sliders myself, but I'm worried about sitting too high since racing seats tend to sit you up higher than OEM seats.
