Sparco EVO Seat Install Nightmare

So I bought a set of Sparco EVO seats, Sparco sliders and Sparco seat brackets. I'm using the Aluminum Recaro side mount brackets.

I figured it would be just a bolt on simple install and it is turning into a nightmare with the need to do custom fabrication.

1) The sliders only bolt to the inner holes on the bracket. It means that I need to drill extra holes on the outer location to get the slider mounted where they need to go for the seat.

2) The slider lever sticks out too far and interferes with the bottom of the seat. That means that I have to fab my own lever so I can slide the seat forward and aft. Also, due to #1, the lever is not wide enough.

3) The shoulder wings are so big that they hit the B-pillar. To just clear it, I have to shift the sliders and side mounts to the inside as far as it will go. This leads to problem #4. (picture shows a gap, but there really is none, it is the angle of the pic)

4) The stock seatbelt buckle location mount location is so close to the side mount now that the bolt will hit the it. I will have to modify something here too. Probably raise it by 1/2 to 1 inch to clear the bottom shape of the side mount.

5) And the worst problem of all: The whole combo sits higher than the stock seats despite mounting everything as low as possible (lowest holes on side mounts). Feels like I'm getting into a minivan. This BLOWS!!!! I will have cut the sparco bracket apart and lower it by an inch. See post #10 for pics.

6) The Sparco base flexes too much on the outside rear corner. I can tug on the top of the seat and you can see the base mount flex. I was afraid that would happen with just the bar stock... See Post #16

I found an old post here that talks about similar issues: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...mpression.html

So much for plug and play install... ugh. Will post up some pics of the modified bracket when I get it done.

My Sparco Pro2000 bolted right in - no issues.

No side mounts needed, seat bolted to the slider. Sits maybe a bit lower than stock?

The Sparco EVO's don't have mounting holes under the seat, just the sides so side mounts are required.

Made the extra hole for the outer rail. Drill small first, then go bigger, some dremmel work to cut out the middle, file and it looks like stock:

The inner rail presents a problem. If I drill where it is marked, I will hit the weld & edge of the seat belt bracket on the underside. I may have to grind it off first & do some relations:

I went the Pro2000 and Bride FG rail route. Sits lower than stock and none of the issues your having. I would think the EVO seat is OK. Some guys have had issues with the shoulder width on EVO 2 or whatever they call them EVO L & XL?

My seat belt buckle was tight on the center console though and rubbed a little bit.

I would imagine the seat alone will save about 20lbs. +/- a couple few....

Seats alone are lighter. But you have to count in the brackets & sliders and the net diff is not much just by feel. I'll weigh it all later.

I am not do this for the weight, it is so that I can properly install a 6 pt harness.

Anyway, took pics of the height diff (I just laid the white spatula on the rail and took a pic next to the ruler to show height diff). Clearly it has to do with the design of the seat base bracket. The Sparco version just goes off straight off the bolt off the center tunnel, where the stock one bends down. So, anything you add atop the sparco bracket will automatically be higher. Basically the diff is the height of the slider, ~ 1/2 inch.

Interesting.

I have a Sparco Fighter mounted - and it wasn't straight forward either. It came from another Evo owner, so it already the rail on the slider - mounted to the bottom of the seat.

But a similar problem - it didn't line up really. So I picked up the binary/jid2 lowering seat brackets and drilled some new holes in the Sparco base to make it work. Then, like you, noticed I was just as high if not higher than stock.

So, round #2 of modding... I took the Sparco slider and started bending it! Also took out and much of the spacers as I could. I ended up with a much lower seating position, but the seat no longer slides after I tightened it down. Doesn't matter to me; it's in the right spot.

I figured a side-mount seat would be easier?

My Sparco is solid mounted, non-adjustable, and dang low.

I took the lowering brackets and welded them directly to a base I built that mounts to the seat without sliders. Like you said the Sparco base is a high boy due to the fact that it doesn't drop in the rear like it should.

My solid base.

first of all , Sparco Evo seat base in itself is high. 2nd, you are bolting side seat brackets ontop of the sliders, and then sliders ontop of the Sparco seat base. No wonder you are getting minivan feel.

Loose the sliders, and sparco seat base, and make a custom 1 just like jid2 and myself. My Sparco Evo side seat brackets are barely above the floor, and the whole seat is ~2" lower than stock

and yeh, Sparco Evo is wide uptop, so when you lower the seat another 1-2", side support will hit the black side pillar... Same problem here. Sucks but got to live with it for now

most of your problem is the slider rails are designed for bottom mount seats. The side mount brackets are intended to mount to the floor.

I smell a group-buy opportunity here Jared! Think about it...
