I guess one way of seeing this is that we (SST trainy guys that is) could just do what we can and make decent reaction times and be happy with short time around 2.0x, which is still better than most of the other 2WD cars in the class. Manual EVOs and STIs will have advantage there, but who is still racing those in BS???

WOW...those are horrible reaction times...kind of what I was afraid to hear/see for the SST equipped cars. At least I was hoping things could be improved once you can play with the flash...well, maybe not that much

Just saw the reaction times from the Godzilla (Eric's GTR) in SM and he also had horrible ones as well. Perhaps, it is even worse than I expected for those trainies...

His wife is better at the lights. Not counting 2 Red Lights, she averaged 0.690
If you give her the benefit of the doubt on a just barely a red light, it drops down to 0.673

Ignore Eric's RTs, he was sand bagging pretty hard to not over drive and hurt his chances in the challenge. Thats why the big excitement when I called him on his under-driving beating him on saturday. Sunday's runs is where he went for it and is more like what he can do.

Also, ignore his last run of a .2xx reaction time.. There he was screwing with me cause he already had the win in the bag.

The other GTR had a much more difficult time launching the SST with his stock trans (Eric's is not stock). He was pretty new to the drag start also so Im sure that played into it.

And a small brag, I havent drag raced in like a decade and somehow cut solid lights all weekend. Unfortunately my clutch was shiite and wouldn't let me leave the line at anything better than 4000rpms and 3/4 throttle without slipping.

Took my average of all green lights (had one red), over 11 good starts I averaged 0.587 .

Ryan, who ran in SPA, is the owner of one of those Evo MRs and he managed to get several .5xx lights with a few 0.4xx redlights. He had a lot of issues sunday afternoon though with the clutches opening from overheating. Not sure if you ever run into the same issues Fedja, maybe not since Ryan has ~400hp.

Nope, none of those issues with extra power! Yet!!

This has to stay stock from the cat all the way to the air filter box (filters are free if they can fit in there), so none of those issues with clutches not willing to press together and transfer power they are afraid of! But, on the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised there is something in there built in to protect the trainy of launching at will in the stock trim. It definitely has one of those built into the shifting pattern for shifts from 2-1 and back to 2. When taking of the line, I think they can figure out to shift where it is not going to hurt when doing 1-2. Once running hot and downshifted to 1st for a short while, coming back is no-no and you have to lift first before trainy would shift. It is quite possible they have something like that for off the line hard starts as well. That is why I was hoping those bugs could be removed once ECU get free to modifications...

Talking with Kozmic & Jacks both agreed sounds like my clutches are on the way out. Pulling the transmission Monday and doing a small prayer before sending the basket off. Slightly undecided between dodsons/ssp/jacks 500hp clutches. This will be my first trip out for nationals and figured between fresh tires why not have fresh clutches? (slightly joking on the clutches...) Saturday I was having lots of issues after my co driver who ran in SM to class fill (you're welcome dallas ) was able to get his runs in but by the 3rd heat when SPA ran the car still hadn't cooled off enough i'm guessing as after my first launch my next 3 + re-run gave me either limp mode and opened the clutches or was sluggish. I was pretty frustrated so had my friend just not launch any more since I needed to get at least an attempt at a solid right side run and ended up not running in the afternoon since it was just getting warmer. Sunday he didn't launch either and after my first launch I got the warning beep but the clutches held. My next run the opened again so I took the run easier and gave the car a small cool down. last 2 runs I only used launch control after the buzzer went off and still giving it a 2 count as our starter seemed to be waiting the full 5 seconds each time. That seemed to work better but I could tell just driving in/out of impound in first gear it wasn't happy as was revving to around 2500~ before car would move. Overall im excited to see what upgraded clutches does for my 60fts as Jacks had a post from about a year ago that they had the sst launching like sidestepping a manual car. If we can get something similar to what Eric's car has for launching I would be much happier with the SST and pros. If not It might be time for a manual swap during the winter lol.

An here's what on board is like when an axle snaps:
