NJMP Thunderbolt/Lightning
Hey all,
New to the northeast region and thinking NJMP will end up my home track. Any input on preference of Thunderbolt vs Lightning? Thunderbolt looks to be what I'd prefer based on track map, but curious if things drive differently than they look. Also curious how/when the 3a/b/c corners are run

Welcome to the region. Glad to hear another evo will be doing some laps around here. I like both tracks, they both have good flow and are similar yet pretty different at the same time. Thunderbolt to me is a bit more technical and a higher speed track over lightning. I run with nasane and we have not run the chicane on TB in probably 5 years or more. Other clubs may run the chicane more frequently.
Do you have any idea what clubs your going to run with?

I've run with NASA before but I don't like always having an instructor in the car. I think because I've only been to NASA a couple times I'm only on the 2nd level (?) and so instructors are required.
Just also saw this:
NOTE: Thunderbolt course is being redesigned for 2024. Last chance to drive this configuration!

Unfortunately here in the NE we don't have many events like that besides the TNIA and I'm not sure how often/ if at all they run at TB. Normal events are in the range of 250ish to 350 per day. Moe days does some events there and I believe they are reasonably priced.
Nasa ne only requires an instructor in the car the whole day if you are in de1. If you are cleared to solo ( group 2) you aren't required to have an instructor in the car.
I will be at the August event instructing with nasa. If you do decide to come to that event I can ride passenger and show you around the track for the first session if you would like.

I prefer Thunderbolt much more over Lightning. Check out Motorsportreg for all the clubs that rub there. I usually go with PCA because they are a bit cheaper.
