TI shims are a 1,000,000x waste of money on a street car.
The thing about AX that most track guys don't get is that we have ZERO airflow after the heat is made. So it just sits and gets everything else hot. So we don't have the same peak rotor glowing temps, but once we're hot we aren't cooling down. Its generally more of an issue on coolant but with braking we do need a pretty good pad that can handle the heat without falling off.

I understand, I have done both. I didn't say anything about the pads, I totally understand the need for good pads.

yep, and doesn't help that every run ends with a 60 to 0 or so stop. that said, with or without i've never felt any pedal mushiness etc. expecting less so with the X brakes and the rotors being a bigger heat sink, and maybe a faster rate of cooling with more surface area?

but yea, as I said, street, no difference, autox, (likely) no difference, track yes. no use on a street car

I have a set of X calipers on the way now. Will be ordering RB stainless pistons and 2pc rotors shortly. 2pc rotors will be for track use, and I'll be getting some cheap centric premium blanks for street use.

Decided to try them. Will save me at least $1000 if I like them. And I can always resell them and change calipers later.

Ok just did this upgrade also. Braking feels about the same as before but the look factor alone is enough for me to do it again If I had to. Have 18x9.5 nto3s and the evo 8 brembo and rotor always seemed a bit small. Space is filled up with the bigger rotor and I can def use a thinner spacer than the 10mm I currently an using.

well worth it imho.

interesting. in what situations (autox, track, street) are you using the brakes? i wouldn't expect to notice it in street driving - in autox, the difference is substantial fo rme

Purely street use. Possibly why I haven't noticed a difference as yet. It does feel great, somewhat similar to the stock brembo setup I guess. But under my 18s the look is superb. I'm assuming if I do push the car coupled with some hard braking I may notice the difference.

Phaz3, what offset NT03+ M wheels are you using? If you don't mind my asking.

I only use a 5mm spacer and they clear just fine on the street and the track.
