God: Let there be Light!

Kyoo: But why is there light, and why does it have to be so bright, and does this heat mean anything?

God: Dude, light gives life to many things

Kyoo: Ok ya but this life thing i've heard can be hard, and you make it so bright I also heard that you can go blind staring at it?

God: ..... *lightening bolt*

aftermarket wheels use conical style lugnuts. when you torque something conical, it will center.

lmao

I've honestly heard conflicting stories of some people melting their centering rings on track! wanted to check what the story was for evos

I've been running the same aluminum centering rings for like 4 years on track, no issues.

(Also been using bolt on spacers with no issues...but I'm sure I'll get flamed for that! )

Extended studs (ARP) and a slip on spacer are much preferred.

Get some Muteki SR48 lugs to go with your new wheels.

just press out the studs on the spacers and use ARP studs. you dont need to get new spacers. let me know if you want me to order ARP studs for you

with bolt on spacers, the spacers is bolted on to the hub, then the wheels is bolted on the the spacers. that just introduce more points of failure. most common thing that's ive seen is the spacers to the hub get loose, i've never seen complete failure though. but you can see how thin the lugnut seat is on the spacer, that just worries me.

Great explanation. Also, what would bother me with having bolt on spacers is when it comes to heat cycles and retorquing things. You can easily retorque your lugnuts but how would you go about retorquing the nuts that hold on the spacer? That would force you to pop off the wheel to torque it down which would be annoying. So annoying means you wont do it. That is bad. Plus more studs more nuts more weight. Weight is bad.

didn't know I needed new lugs for aftermarket wheels - the "acorn" kind?
