I think using auto-x ruleset as a building block is a bad idea. The rules are vague which is more a reason to use engine power to weight. Also reliability mods should be free in all levels.

1. Larger than stock baffled oil pans
2. Oil coolers
3. Larger radiators
4. Larger than stock brakes and rotors
5. Brake ducting

We have a local time attack series that is really popular that uses that ruleset. Folks I have never seen before are coming out to that series while the SCCA scene has a hard time recruiting members. Mainly because popular silly mods don't throw those folks into obscenely high classes. I wonder when the SCCA will learn, maybe they just don't care.

i agree, it's a weird mish mash of wanting to port over solo people while still trying to make the rules make more sense road courses.

from the responses, they have still not made a call on allowing manual boost controllers - please write in!

i also resubmitted a letter requesting allowance for jdm/eudm bumpers. they cited safety as the reason why not, which is bizarre - as crash beams are designed to handle 5-10mph crashes max, and if you still have any crash beam i don't think safety is impacted at all in a track perspective

Personally, I'm not going to bothering writing any letters or waste any time, money and effort. I'll just not go to any of the SCCA TT events. I'll go to competitor (eg: NASA) events. When they see the entry numbers are dismal, it'll hopefully force them to adopt common sense changes. Luckily SCCA is not the only game in town, vote with your time and money.

i agree - however, i will still write letters to at least emphasize what rules seem out of whack. if they do not get them "right," as you said, i will absolutely be going with the club that fits me
