Ahh. I've never tried to sync from another source. Please posts the fix!

On a related note, I've found a Track Addict to 500% easier to use, for autocross ,than Harry's.

I'll try both at my next track day, to compare.

Bumping this for any more info. Looking to make a decision myself.
Tools being used are iPhone, GoPro, and some sort of external gps.
Thanks

Bumping this again.

Is there a consensus on the best external GPS unit?

Most of the people I know are using this one, and seem pretty happy. I plan to try it for myself here in a few months. If anyone else has suggestions, I'm down to hear.

I pulled the trigger on this one.

I've only ran it two track days with the Track Addict app but so far it’s been pretty easy. Sync it before you even get to the track and then just turn it on and go. I’ve been using my phone as my video recording device so I can’t comment on how it is to match up with a GoPro. However it automatically starts recording each lap as I pass over the start/finish line and it breaks down individual laps by time and allows me to view & save the ones I want.

Thanks guys.

Any specific recommendations for phone mounts? I’d prefer something that doesn’t require permanent modifications (no drilling) if possible, but I also don’t want to risk my phone coming lose while I’m on track.

I use a Scosche magnetic mount that uses 3m to stick to the windshield, because I also use it for video.
If not using it for video, the location is REALLY good for monitoring lap times.
The magnet is super strong and the phone does not budge. I'm actually pretty impressed.
Not super easy to remove, but it's on glass, so a bit of adhesive remover and I'm golden.
Not sure if.that's what you are looking for,.though.

I went with a Ram Mount. Holds well to the windshield, but isn’t the easiest to slip in and out. But I suppose that’s the point.

RAM mount 1000%. You don't have to worry about anything with those. I use a RAM mount for both my phone (windshield) and my gopro (sunroof)

It will pull the glass out before it comes off.

+1 on the RAM mounts. Have used them for years in both karts and the car.
