I thought it was a Vortex spacer for your exhaust. I saw an informercial that said it can net about 18whp.

Is there a way to check for valve leaks without removing the head? Or you just assuming. I know I bend a couple every year or so.

You shouldn't be bending valves without piston contact.

Beerad is probably just experience valve/seat wear. You can check for this with a leak down test.

Yup u can do this with a leakdown test. Basically buy a leakdown tester from your local auto store if you have an external air source available. set the piston to TDC. screw leak down tester into the hole where the spark plug goes. turn on air pressure and the gauge will indicate any leakage. If you detect leakage drizzle a small amount of oil into the cylinder via the spark plug hole to seal the piston ring then re test. if you now have no leakdown then rings gone. if its still leaking down its a valve.

FYI you shouldnt be bending valves at all. if you are your cam timing is out and you should get ur cams degree'd

They've never been visibly bent, but machine shop detectable. Granted this was with stock valves after that kind of abuse, I've since installed GSC's so here's hoping that's resolved. It always seemed to be on one side too.

Have you ever money shifted the car or over rev it much? If you float the valve enough you can bend them.

Ya I had several corners designed to bang it in the 8-8200 range in order to stay flat, since then short shifting before those corners and picked up a tenth. Not as uncommon as you think.

Finally getting around to making my splitter (Ignore the mess, Im into way to many projects half way done but a big cleanup is coming next week) . I of course cant just do things standard so I decided to make my own things original to me. I didn't run more than a quick FEA on the drop mount for the middle, but that should buckle if I hit anything too hard instead of ripping things apart.

Height is 3-3.25" with very slight adjustment pushing nose down. There are 3 rods along the front and two back by the tires. Length is 5.5" to be safe from 6" limit and I sort of just copied the geometry of the lip on my car to give it at least some interesting shape. The corner I also sloped inward to help avoid cones on the outside of the car in certain areas and the width overall matches the width of the tires. The plan is to have the flares come all the down to the splitter to fully block the tire. Also working on blocking off side openings in the bumper since I have my ACD and Oil cooler relocated.

Heh, they are actually aluminum strips I cut and drilled for the oil cooler. It just ended up a little off from my first measurements so the edges I ground down didnt end up horizontal/vertical. One day I'll redo them to be equally over the top

Splitter is 3/8" plywood with the intend that Id use this as a template to then make something nicer but looking at material weights and durability, Im finding it hard to justify anything different.

nothing wrong with plywood - thats what we're rocking at the moment. once we have a shop again we'll make another carbon.
